    Good morning,
Looking for anyone that has had a new frame installed on their Tacoma that you paid for out of pocket? I figure there will be add ons as the work gets done.
I found a '06 Tacoma crew cab, 4x4 with only 114k on the clock. Frame is shot but past the recall date(2019). I am thinking about purchasing the truck and paying for a replacement frame myself. This is based on the current owner selling at a reduced amount. She is asking $12k and I am thinking $6k preferably, $8k at the most.

Others here have shown dealer receipts anywhere from $12-15000 including the frame itself, if you can get one.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Honestly, Gary… don’t. I will be in the same situation soon, too. Save your $. Regrettably, it’s done. Save for a flying car.449F9AB2-C923-47C1-9FF1-FC5191618698.jpg

If you mean for the frame just to purchase, you're in the ballpark if you can get one for your particular veghicle.

I figure out how much money are going to spend by the time you’re done replacing this frame on an unknown vehicle, remember, adding some unknown costs, time is worth something to, for most people.

I take that as my budget and buy the cleanest nicest truck I could find.

A truck with a totally rotted frame, and ~100k miles, should sell for ~$3k. Maybe. It's basically a parts vehicle at that point, because it doesn't pay to put a frame under it.

I would not buy an 05 or 06 Tacoma.
They are known for a higher rate of head gasket failure.
New frame + new head gaskets……Expensive

I was not aware of the increased head gasket failure in those years. The owner(s) are down to $9k and she claims that's as low as she will go. I gave some thought to finding a quality frame welder to look at it and quote me a price. I have just decided to let it go and forget about it.
    Thanks guys!

You made the right decision. Many people think that's it's just the frame that needs replacing. Truth be told, Toyota replaces the frame and a whole bunch of other stuff that just happens to rust out with it. The kit of "extra" parts is actually pretty impressive - and expensive.

She is dreaming ,unless some sucker comes along.
That is a $1500 parts truck at best with a rotted frame and who knows what else.
