It was a nice sunny day and I was puttering around cleaning out my truck. I decided to have a look under the hood just to make sure all was well. I have not noticed this before. I just had it serviced for the first time a week ago. They certainly never mentioned this... and although I can't say it wasn't there when I got the truck in April for sure, It kind of jumped out at me today... looks very red neck last minute kind of splice... maybe the reason for the 2 month hold back in January (my truck was a January build) I got it in April. Anyone else have this or know what it might be? It sure looks like an afterthought to me!

It's right in front of the battery, and looks very disconcerting to me the way it's taped up and looks to have tapped into that other wire bundle.

It may look janky but it’s how Toyota rolls these days. Not the same company it was years ago.

ok wow, thanks for easing my stress on that one. It's sure not very professional. Fingers crossed the rest of the truck holds up (including the timing cover...)

    Yeah.
Almost looks like it was a power and ground. Looks like they are still running the power, but they moved the ground. Maybe just an engineering change that improves things without adding a bunch of extra cost. No biggee.

Makes me feel good i bought the "used like new" Pop and lock off Amazon. That comes with plugs that plug in nicely. No splicing into factory harnesses for me. I saw the dealer fee to put the oem tailgate lock was like 600 installed. WOW Id be mad if they tapped the harness.

My dad got his 23 TRD off road and the plastic cover under shift knob is stuck out.. As well as door sealants popped out, and had to force it back. Feels like someone somewhere isn't doing their job and not inspecting stuff, 1 employee can cause stuff like this.

But at the end of the day, these are pick up trucks. They are supposed to feel cheap, but tough.

It increases diameter and adds an interesting variety of pressure points, as opposed to a single finger.
