So I got my first oil change from the dealer since I bought my used 2012 Tacoma off-road with 158577 miles. from what the carfax states the previous owner kept up on the truck's maintenance it was his daily commuter, and now it is my 23-mile two-way commuter, the dealer recommended diff and trans service, but I'm not a fan of the dealer(2 bad experiences) because they always try to scare you with what needs to be done with your car, and I have my own mechanic, but the oil change was free. What are your thoughts (TW Family) first Taco had a Highlander before, love Toyotas

Ideally, you’d want to do the differentials every 30k.
And transfer case ever at least every 50k. (Or sooner)

Can you you get by going longer. Probably.
Some people never change them. But I don’t recommend it.

I follow this guide (it's everywhere on Tacomaworld). If your truck love mud and water, you will need to change the diff oil sooner i case there water contamination by the vent tube.
Buy all the washer at the dealer. And it take 6 quarts of 80w-90 or 75w-90 (both work). It take maybe 2 hours and you will be sure that it's done correclty and you will see the condition of the oil
