We've all heard about things that go bump in the night. Or unnatural sightings. Or just plain weird events.
    Let's hear your spooky stories.

    Here's mine:

Back in the 80s we lived next to a public library. It was a big old building with a columned entrance that looked like a former bank. The head librarian was a typical looking, no nonsense woman, about 40 years of age.
The news reported that she had unexpectedly disappeared and hadn't been seen for 3 days. Very puzzling.

A few days later while walking by the library my wife and I saw her "walking" behind a car. It was her unmistakable profile, slight smile, dark hair, wearing a peach colored top. Not exactly walking but floating by at ground level. We both pointed and said "There she is" Then she vanished. We both stared and turned to look in all directions for her.

That evening's news stated that her body had just been discovered 1000 miles away. Dead for 3 days!

    Here is mine.

My wife and I were living in a 120 something year old house (601 e. Monte vista Vacaville California) that had been converted into apartments.

I was in the kitchen doing dishes and my wife came in behind me. The only light in the kitchen was behind me and her shadow was cast on the wall in front of the sink. The shadow moved about as she did something by the dining table. I talked to her for a few minutes before she left without saying a word. It was odd so I went into the living room with a wtf? She was on the couch and hadn't been in the kitchen.

Side note: there was a hinge on the door that squeaked. When I went to oil it there was a punched 666 on the inside face.

The house was built by a lawyer that took a horse to Suisun city to ride the ferry into San Francisco. He was robbed and murdered in route sometime around 1905. His wife was distraught and hanged herself in the top floor parlor, our apartment, a few days later. Their eldest daughter was found dead in the same room three days after moving in.

The house sat vacant until 1916 when a pastor purchased it and did needed repairs. Nobody knows exactly why but he boarded up the entire upper floor and sealed it with lath and plaster. He lived alone in that house until 1932 when the local police found his decaying body due to a horrendous smell. His body was found inside the sealed upper floor, our apartment, but there was no identifiable access to it. They tore out the ceiling to recover the body.

The house again sat vacant due to rumors of being haunted. It wasn't until 1936 that a widowed father of two teenage boys bought the house at a fraction of it's worth. His spouse had died in labor with their third child.

During the remodel he located a hidden passage behind a closet that evidently the pastor had constructed to access the upper floor. That passage was lined with newspaper clippings of missing persons.

On a camping trip last winter the gf and I were set up by a lake in the middle of nowhere western VA. As we were trying to sleep, a pack of coyotes came through the area and made quite the racket. They circled the camp for close to three hours, randomly howling, shrieking, and otherwise making a nuisance. If you've encountered coyotes in the wilds you know the horror movie sounds those little suckers can make.

The sounds grew closer and farther away every few minutes, but we never actually got to see any up close, they're sneaky lil creatures. Luckily we were sleeping in the truck bed with a hard camper shell, not a flimsy ground tent that night. The little bastards sounded hungry and I wasn't in the mood to tangle with a whole mess of 'em. Eventfully, they seemed to circle around to the other side of the lake where we saw some lights from other campers. Too far to actually make out but we knew there were other folks out that night.

I've been camping since I was little kid in the scouts and such and I've heard plenty of crazy animal noises. Coyotes definitely make some of the worst, but from across the lake probably around 11pm we could hear near constant screaming that lasted about 2 or 3 minutes straight and suddenly cut off. Frankly, it sounded human in nature. The lights also never turned off and were still on early the next morning. We decided against heading over there the next morning to check on those folks. We were afraid of what we might find...

Last year I was surfing in Westport Wa on a sunny Saturday morning when the tsunami siren went off. I was quite a ways out, maybe 75-100 yards offshore. Complete terror gripped me, I turned around and sprint paddled back to the beach, ran up and over the bluff to find a sheriff in the parking lot calming people down and explaining it was only a drill. I was so shook up I had to sit in the van for an hour just to calm down before going back out

I'm guessing on a good day the siren would give you maybe 10-15 minutes advance warning.. being that far out, it easily took me 4-5 minutes to paddle in, then I'm looking at getting jammed up in traffic trying to get back through town to the highway and (hopefully) to higher ground. There's no tall elevation anywhere near Westport, you have to drive 20 minutes minimum before you could jump out of your car and scramble up a hill. Not a good scenario any way you look at it.

Literally the last thing you want to hear when you're out in the water. Somebody could've yelled shark in the line-up and I wouldn't have panicked as bad. You can "share" the water/area with a shark and it's not like you're guaranteed a 100% chance of death. Oftentimes they'll just swim around, check out the surfers, give everybody a good scare and then move on.. but there's no way in hell you can "share" the water with a f--kin tsunami. I'd be lying if I said I don't think about it every time I go down there.

Movie tsunamis yeah, but have you seen the videos of them in reality? Way out you'd just ride up and down, no crashing roller I don't think. But scary just the same.
What's it like if a piece of seaweed touches your toes when your feet are over the boards' side?
