Hello! So I'm currently trying to remove my old broken coil spring. I've got the old spring securely compressed (it is freely moving around the strut) and I've removed the top nut, but the top cap isn't budging. I'm at the point where I'd expect the whole assembly to come apart, allowing me to remove the compressed coil, but it's not coming apart. Any ideas?

The rubber under the top cap is probably just stuck to the coil. Release the spring compressors and it should come off

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
This is it. Make sure you have eye pro and you’re not in the path of travel in case of accidental violent release of force.

I did try that, i let the coils out a little but (but not completely) and that wasn't enough to force it off. it might have worked if I loosened the compression tool even more, but it felt like I was playing with fire and I didn't wanna continue down that path. I ended up taking the whole assembly (after putting the nut back on and releasing the compression tool for safety) to a local shop, and they found out that my coil issue was actually just the protective coating coming off, and not the shock itself coming apart, so I don't actually have to replace the coil right away anyway. So I just put it all back together, and it will last until I can get a new pair of Bilstein 6112's delivered. I was already planning on getting those anyway, but I thought my coil was shot so I didn't think I could wait, and I needed this to be drivable, so I was just replacing the coil.

At least I now have a bit of experience with the suspension, so it'll be a breeze to do the replacement once the 6112's arrive lol

    appreciate the replies!
