Had to move the mower Saturday with the kohler, I noticed it was only firing on one cylinder even with the new coils. I took the plugs out, figured one was fouled since it had only been firing on one for a while. Changed them and Cole mowed the whole yard without a hiccup.

on the topic of burning oil my crapsman walk behind runs fine. but.....sometimes on hot restart after bag change it smokes really bad for a few seconds. sometimes nothing. its 3 years old. anything i should bother looking at? it is a 300$ mower but i hoped it would rust out before clapping out.

    Is it using oil?

If not, it's most likely a burnt out exhaust valve guide. Being made of rubber, they get heat brittle and no longer seal.

The oil from the valve train leaks down the valve stem into the combustion chamber. It's pretty common and doesn't hurt anything as the oil is burnt up pretty quick. The oil leaks only during the shut down, not while the engine is running.

If it's not smoking during operation and you have no oil usage symptoms, it's not a big issue.

Got to spend the start of my day changing an inner axle grease seal. I bought new tires for my trailers about a month ago and found the inside of the rim coated with grease. Annoying, but easy problem to deal with, if you catch it early lol. Yay for doing preventative maintenance on the regular I guess.

Fog for mosquitos and mow at the same time? Sounds like a good life hack to me.

No. The axle itself has a grease port. EZ lube or whatever it is called I believe. I still think it can be overgreased though like bearing buddies tend to do if that's why you are asking.

Yeah, so I use this gizmo:
    https://www.amazon.com/ATIVERE-Pneumatic-Electric-Universal-Conversion/dp/B098Q523DD?th=1

It works well, but I like the feel of a manual grease gun that this lacks. It's entirely possible I overfilled the bearings, but for the cost to replace I just went the safe route.

Anybody else ever do something wrong or is it just me? :annoyed:

The Kawasaki engine I replaced the governor piece in, I can’t get any adjustment out of it.

I looked at a picture online and know exactly what I did wrong. I put this washer circled in red on the wrong side of the snap ring, now to pull the engine and move it :frusty:

Speaking of Kohlers, I noticed mine is leaking oil around that stupid quick drain thing. Guess it will be replaced with a nipple and elbow. Crappy part is I have to loosen the bolts on the engine and lift it slightly to remove that assembly. Stupid... :annoyed:

How’s the road construction down there? Last time we went through there it was a mess on I-26.
