My SRS light has been on since I bought the truck (well, except for a few weeks where the fuse was blown, but that's another story). I did some research, shorted the tc/e1 on the diagnostics port, and got code 54. I tacked down where the short might be, and found that it's in the wires that connect directly to the passenger side airbag. Is there a way to unplug this wire without removing the passenger side airbag, which would be a total PITA? I want to determine if it's the harness itself or the airbag module that's the issue.

    These pins are shorted:

Here's the clearest shot I could get of the connector:

The airbag pin connectors generally come straight out with a steady forceful pinch & pull (maybe a slight wiggle), though I've never done it on my truck

I tried that and it felt like the plastic was about to snap. I'll probably just end up removing the whole thing, I guess.

    Reserected from the dead.
Most of the SRS connectors are a 2 part connector. You need to remove the safety connector, then you can separate the actual connector from the sensor or module.

Please disconnect the battery before you do any of this work, just to be double safe.

All I could find there was this installation video which, while informative, wasn't exactly helpful. https://youtu.be/Hi6ZO7wNqQg?si=yFTjAmCw6DIXIXgo

The connector in the first pic was a 2-part assembly that clips to the back of the glove box dash piece. It was similar to the 2-part clip on the steering wheel or the airbag key-switch. It's the connector in the second pic that plugs directly into the air bag that I'm struggling with. It's on the passenger side of the airbag itself, way up under the dashboard.
