Maui/Tacoma/Surf

Hi - I'm on vacation staying in Kahana - seeing a lots of Tacoma's with surfboards but here in Kahana it's more like a big lake - smooth today - the other day there were some waves breaking way way out never anything near the shore - I don't feel safe going way way out - is there any place I could ride a boogie board and catch a wave closer to the shore - some times there are waves braking 1 or 2 feet from the shore - little kids seem to enjoy them but I can't. Yesterday we were at Napili beach - looks like a good place for snorkeling - any other suggestions. ? Thanks for any reply/information/links.

 

Check surf reports surfnewsnetwork.com It will tell you where the waves are.
Body boarding can be do near shore down Makena "Big Beach" but if it big be careful about going "Over the Falls" people get seriously hurt.
Kamaoli III beach park can also have some decent waves to body board.Or you can head to the North shore of Maui Baldwin beach.

It really depends of the surf report.

 

Heading for the Kona side of the Big Island end of January to cruise around and see and old buddy from way back in Elementary school. Real character, Yancey D. Drives a limo and says he gets some well known celebrities that land in Kona. Does bit parts in movies as a walk on, he's worked with The Rock, Goldie Hahn, Amy Schumer movies. Dude is a real trip...
