My ‘06 has stock suspension, and she’s saggy and low. Although my 5’2” tall wife appreciates this, I’d like to give her a little lift (the truck, not my wife). I read a thread recently that suggested swapping for a 3rd gen TRD suspension and I like this idea, because they’re all over FB marketplace for a much more reasonable price than aftermarket stuff, and I’m not trying to crawl over any rocks. I use it for work and some job sites are rough but in general I just want a bit of lift.

so the question is, would the 3rd gen OR give more lift than the Sport? I’m guessing yes but figured I’d pose the question to folks who know better than I. Thanks!

Dad's got a 06 TRD Off Road. Just a daily like yours. I thought they both give the same 1 inch lift in the front due to the springs. Back seems the same but my leaf springs seem to have a bit more of that smile curve to it. Before they looked very straight almost a frown.

I went with the sport (blue) shocks off a 2019. They are awesome and I love the way the truck is sitting. The sports get a bad rap up here but they are way better the old broke ones we took off. I really enjoy the new ride. The sports I seen for sale were cheaper, had less miles, and seemed in better condition. I got a set off the market place for $250 with 2000 miles brand new looking.

    Hope that helps.

I never did a before/after measurement. But I swapped my suspension out for a 2021 OR and it definitely gave it a little extra height. Granted my rear leafs were both broken.

Off road equal to bilsteins(they are not 4600) but perform better than the tokico on sport’s as other people have claimed. They will give you about and 1 1/8” of height gain. Take advantage of the low mileage 3rd gen dudes going aftermarket for a low buck.

That’s exactly what I did. Third Gen take offs are a perfect budget option. I think I was under $1000 for everything after paying a shop to install.

Price it’s a little up there but a win if you saved some bucks from your original hit.

And if you add a 1/2” top hat spacer you get a 2” lift without crazy binds and everything working as it should.

*note: I said top hat spacer not spring preload spacer, fuck those.
