    Zippo's worked as a great "worry stone". (Remember those?) One could fiddle with the lighter for hours. Hence so many cool tricks.
    I found my Uncle's zippo he had with him when he went into Normandy '44. He scratched his name on one side, the other side he scratched a pretty good rendition of a roadrunner. He was from southwest Texas.

    (Along with the lighter was a letter to my mom (his sister) after he had progressed into France. The letter talks about a letter he found in a house that had been a Nazi HQ. That letter was from Himmler. Signed and all. (Also, a Nazi medal and a mug-shot photo of a nameless PoW.) I'm proud of all of the provenance of each item.)

    We had several shoe boxes full of cards, I remember my mom selling them at a yard sale for like 10 cents/box. :eek:

    The flavor in that gum lasted for maybe 4.6 seconds. :laugh:

    During summer vacation we used to collect empty bottles, 1cent each. Save all my earrings and bought a new “banana seat” for my bike. I think the seat was $6, a lot of bottles.
