That’s why I’m not longer taking any of my vehicles back to the dealer unless there is absolutely something wrong with it. Seems like they always leave something loose or break something else in the meantime. At least with my expierence .

Exactly. If it’s not major I’d rather do it myself. Hell they even over tightened the filter drain plug. It’s so tight on the housing I can’t get it off.

But it does need one and there's a very good chance that's the source of your leak. Like others have said, clean it thoroughly with brake clean then keep an eye on it. It's always best to rule out the simple things first then worry about expensive repairs like main seals.

I’d start with the drain plug washer. Your pan certainly looks like it’s leaking at the drain plug and it’s anyone’s guess where it goes from there. I’d clean up after that and check it after a few drives to see what’s happening.

you can also add uv dye to the engine oil and use a black light to see if it’s leaking anywhere. Have had to do that on my truck for AC and Coolant already. You can also buy a borescope off Amazon for cheap and stick it up the access panel in the bottom of the trans bellhousing to see if there is oil at the rear main.

And 1000% agree on dealers messing things up… they all do it, regardless of site or brand. Honda, Acura, Toyota, Porsche dealerships have all let me down multiple times.

Well for the oil pan sure but above the oil pan? That’s just not possible. At least I don’t see how. I did clean it though so I will be checking it again later. This was mostly just to get info on if anyone else experienced anything

I surely can't 100% guarantee that is the leak but when you're up to speed out on the road there's a lot of wind turbulence under the truck and that can spread that oil all over the place. That's why it's so hard to identify the source sometimes because the oil can get to some unexpected places.

Anyway it sounds like you're on the right track with cleaning and watching it so good luck.

I hear what you are saying. I have a dealer that has done a good job on my warranty work. I generally go to my dealer for warranty work and when out of warranty fix it myself. However, after reading this TW thread I will be doing all oil changes in the future myself. If I have to drop the oil filter housing to check their work, I might as well change the oil myself.

My advice would be to go and find another Toyota dealer or do your own maintenance. That oil accumulating around the drain plug is because it's missing the gasket. Drain plug gasket PN# 90430-12031 and oil filter 04152-YZZA1. If I was you I would change out the oil and clean everything up and keep an eye on it.

I had my first oil change at a Toyo dealership just yesterday and will be going to a different dealership for the next one. I told them in plain English "I don't want the tires rotated". They finish, the advisor rattles off what they did including "rotated the tires". I asked to look at the truck before signing anything at the cashiers and sure enough they scratched one of my TRD Pro wheels.

The truck is a 2022 OR with 4,300 miles and the wheels probably have less than 1,000 miles on them. It's real obvious that the scratches were not wear and tear. They had the wheel refinished and filled up the tank which is all well and good but when I asked questions I get "I told you we'll take care of it". They act like they were doing me a favor. I had to point out "if you had just listened when I said "no rotation", we wouldn't be having this conversation. Not once did anyone tell me "we're sorry for damaging your truck and having you come back a second time to get the wheel fixed". They will never see the customer point of view.

I just want to say thank you all for your help and advice. Will definitely be getting a washer for the drain plug. Cleaned things up and haven’t found anything yet so hopefully it’s just residual from who knows what.
