Any woodworkers?

Blowing my own horn a little, but ... if you find the towel racks in the bathroom too narrow, this is full-wide and has 3 places (two full-size and 2 hand-towels). Can freestand or you can remove the legs and add a couple of back slats and attach directly to the wall with small wall-anchors. Overlap-joints keep the sides flat.

 

I've been looking for a reason to buy a track saw for a long while, but I'm sort of between shop spaces at the moment so I would probably just spend money to store it if I bought one now. Plus, I'm kind of cheap and always managed to make the table saw work. Hopefully I can change that in the future.

 

I've also secretly coveted the Festool tools. Growing up my dad worked for Black and Decker so every year was a new DeWalt tool or battery for Christmas. He's long retired but I still go with DeWalt even now that I have to pay for them and have always been happy. Buying Festool now would almost feel like cheating, but they are tempting.

 

Worked late today but came home and got yesterday's glue up out of the clamps and scraped.
Ready to joint the bottom flat again. This is the top in the pic.

My Betty is already in bed so I try to be respectful and not run loud machines.

This board needs to be ripped in half and planed to 7/8" to get the 12" width I'm shooting for on each section.

Hmmmm, bandsaw isn't too loud.

Man I suck at resawing, lol but ready for the planer tomorrow.

Wish I had more time, working for a living sucks sometimes. But it pays the bills.

 

The beauty of the track saw is how little space they take!

 

I store mine on my shop ceiling. Take up zero floor space. I use the FastCap track holders. The work great.

 

I use the fast cap too, I 3d printed mine

 

After a 10 hour day at work I came straight home and went right down to the shop. I planed the last board I needed for the glue up before my Betty went to bed.
In the clamps!
And I'm out of glue! Amazon to the rescue, a gallon will be here tomorrow even if I have to work late.

Next step will be glue the last 2 halves together to make the last section for the top. When that's cured I'll plane that down to thickness with the other 2 sections so they are all the same.

 

You're just teasing me now. But I had to look up FastCap track holders . Looks like a good solution to a problem that I want to have...

 

i've got the makita tracksaw and it's great. that with a centipede work stand and a 2" foam board is a nice break-down kinda setup.

 

i ordered 2 of these plexiglass domes for some other project and didn't end up using them, so decided to use up some leftover cutoffs from redoing the basements stairs, and some other stuff. i know, looks like a snow globe.

 

You guys with these new fangeld track saws got me looking at them pretty hard. Don’t really need one, have a table saw. But new tools

my little setup is a bit pieced together too, which is kinda nice when the different parts are compatible.

 

That Bora centipede work stand is awesoem. I have one and I love it.

 

yeah, just for breakdown and storage, it's pretty sweet. amazing how sturdy it is.

 

That's a great ting about track saws, lots of accessories. Lots of guys on etsy making guides for routers and domino's and dowel jigs, just gotta make sure you get the right guide to fit your track. It's my understanding that makita and festool are cross compatible. I even have a Bosch cordless circular saw I use on my festool track. Festool seems to be the Benchmark for track configurations. So just make sure you get a track you like cuz your stuck using it for all other attachments.

 

I'm gonna be so jealous of your work bench. Mine is beefy and heavy but just made out of Doug fir 2x4s. But I BEAT mine up! I'd be afraid to ruin a top with Walnut in it! Hahaha ( I really gotta clean my shop)

 

i just got the 12" bosch saw within the past year . . . love that thing. i'm partial to my 4-layers-of-MDF workbench.
