Work truck was out of commission so I volunteered to use my truck at work today. Pulled a Honda Foreman 500 on a 12x7 trailer

Was able to use s5 on the way to the job without any gear hunting. Good bit of gear hunting on the way back in s5 so I had to use s4. It was a relatively flat drive so I’m not really sure what the difference was. Overall I was pretty pleased with my first experience towing

    Trip to job

Now go buy a brake controller and get it installed so you are ready for the next bigger trailer with brakes! :)

That’s on the wishlist! What brake controller would you recommend?

Personally, I have the Prodigy P2 and it's been great, HOWEVER, the Redarc Tow-Pro I've heard nothing but great things about it, and the control is TINY and can be installed straight into the dash really nicely. My Buddy has installed multiple in his and friends'/family's vehicles.

difference in your two trips was headwind :) fwiw, ive towed a boat every weekend for years, and i never use S5 (i know the book says its ok, just my preference). Believe it or not, i get better fuel mileage towing in s4 with rpms around 2800ish at 55-60. Keeps speed better, too. 17ish mpg towing a boat, and thats with stock gears and 32" ridge grapplers. THese trucks are capable, just let the engine run where it's most comfy

I can’t say enough good things about the Redarc Pro
