Anyone know if it's possible to order replacement parts for an OEM head unit? I'm looking at replacing the screen- it has scratches, but functions normally. Looks like there should be a way to replace the "faceplate" of the whole unit

You'd have to ask a dealer. But I believe the radio is sold as a complete unit. To the tune of something like $6k

Yeah you won’t find parts for it. It’s manufactured by Panasonic and sold to Toyota in bulk. You can find the whole radio on eBay for +/-$400. The dealership would want $5k+

All the faceplates/touchscreens of OEM pioneers in Toyotas look to be identical….. I’m wondering if I buy a donor unit from a model that sells cheaper (like a C-HR) and remove the whole faceplate/lcd/circuit board and put it on my head unit if it would work….

My guess is you'd buy a spare off fleabay and try to jerry rig it without success and be out the money.

You'd be better off swapping for aftermarket. Trail grid pro has some Sony's for not a lot.

I’m not interested in aftermarket for this truck. I have a feeling an identical screen and faceplate with identical fasteners would have the same interface with the processor, hoping someone with some experience can chime in

I guess you're living with a scratched screen then. :hattip:

Maybe try a screen protector? It minimize the visibility of the scratches.

Depends on what year Tacoma you have, up to the 2015’s you could get the screen off eBay or from China for around $70. It’s a bit of a chore to put in as the ribbon cables have small locking tabs and break easy. For the newer ones especially the GPS models you have to replace the complete front panel. About 5 screws and two ribbon cables and they come off, would look around some of the salvage yards to see if they have one that doesn’t work due to water damage to the radio from sitting at the salvage auction yards. Or somebody that has one and the audio section of the radio has died due to the internal fan frying taking out the audio chip.
