I conducted an unscientific experiment on one-handed pistol shooting, at the range.
    The subjects were all Smith’s.

To no surprise, the 340 PD was the most difficult to manage, especially when firing .357 magnum. The .38 Special rounds were still spicy, but much more manageable.

The Shield performed well, but the star of the one handed shooting show was the little 43C. The .22LR rounds rang the most steel, and with the greatest speed. The combination of the .22’s light recoil plus the large white dot front sight made the difference, I believe. Additionally, the 43C is very easy to carry concealed. (Yes, I have a permit.)

I like those wheeled pieces. Don’t have one yet but it’s on the list. Just need to have a hammer for me.

The hammers are internal to make them easier to carry and less likey to snag when drawn; at the cost of not having the ability to cock the hammer for single action trigger function. For these little snubbies I prefer double action only.
I like having a hammer on revolvers with 3" or longer barrels.

I just came here to drool, I knew you'd post up a pic of that 340PD at some point....

Haven't shot in a little over a month, and with the weird stuff happening in Mass legislature, I'm hesitant to share too much.

But, I have no wheeled units.

My most concealable units are a small .380, and a P938.

The 340 PD is very nice. Very easy to carry. But, I must say it is outright painful shooting .357 magnum. Even .38 Special has a sting. I owned a Chief's Special for many years that is the same size as the 340 PD and chambered in .38 Special, and it was a MUCH softer shooter. Having said that, the 340 PD is here to stay.

Yeah, weight is a huge factor with felt recoil.
I wouldn't be able to shoot it right now.
Hoping after my visit with the new Ortho specialist, we can book surgery, and at least get my rt arm back to 90ish percent.
For a while now, only shooting pistol as needed to maintain proficiency..
The rifles are much less stressful on the injury.

    My FAVORITE is my M1A.

Been messing with my Rem700, and trying to breathe some modern updates into it(.308 26" heavy barrel). Already did a 6-24x50 FFP scope... Next up, new stock and different trigger group.

Had Marlins in both 30-30 and 35Rem.
    Both long gone.
I always preferred Marlins over Winchesters in the lever gun dept.
The .35 was the perfect traditional deepwoods NE stalking gun.

Looks like the 30-30 I used to hunt with. Loved it! My moms got a gorgeous Marlin 336 as well. I’ve always loved lever guns.

Gotten away from hunting though, and more into target shooting. My OG Bushmaster Modular Carbine and my P226 are my favorites now.

I don’t hunt either. I bought the Marlin when I was a police officer for a major water supplier. I carried it on duty when pursuing illegal deer hunters on reservoir property. Just carrying a side arm was being under gunned. That rifle gave me equal footing. I’ll never sell it.

Love me a proper Levergun. I have a henry model X in 44mag suppressed that occasionally makes it out to the range. Too bad it's like $1 a round right now... A little love from my last range day and then my new primary pistol.
