I'm assuming you're trying to mount bucket seats. I think a 60/40 split bench would have the same problems.

If the regular cab has a bench seat, you might need to drill a hole and affix a welded nut to the underside of the cab before the bucket seats will bolt up. My '98 regular cab didn't have all the bucket mount points pre-drilled.

You might also need to do some swapping with seat belt parts. The seat belt design changed several times over the years and the buckles aren't compatible between iterations.

The seat-side buckles from a bench seat won't work with a bucket seat--bench seats use a soft strap mount affixed to the floor and buckets use a hard mount affixed to the seat frame. If I remember correctly, the cab-side harness mounts are also different between cab styles.

In addition to the different mount styles, the cab-side harness from a 2001 will have an explosive pretensioner that a '99 truck might not be wired for. From what I've observed here in the forums, the explosive pretensioner seems to be in some, but not all, '99 trucks.

I am going to meet this guy tonight and put the trucks together to see. My interior is covered in paint because I have had it for more than twenty years. His truck is a 2001 with totalled front end. I am hoping to get everything but dash. We will see. Mine is rust free 99 W/289K and its hard to get anything for cheap for a tacoma first gen. I will be posting for the future

the seats were torn and dirty so that didnt work. you cant find anything for tacomas. i have a custom jeep and an 68 foxbody mustang 25yr anniversary and both those vehicles have awsome seats and every other aftermarket thing they might need. I reappolstered the mustang seats. The tacoma cant even get a decent aftermarket carpet
