Please post the model number of the compressor. Posting photos with little description will not help. I guarantee that compressor has a manual, there are probably specs in the manual.

Here is an idea - Contact SmittyBilt and ask them.

Also - do not "convert" thread sizes. Just use the proper equipment. It's also not a Japanese thread. Its called NPT. Take your compressor to home depot and get the right piece.

    :annoyed:

    Your compressor is 1/4" NPT.

So what's the whole story here. It looks like youre missing the handle that has the integrated hose in it, and that's where youre trying to thread something into? That fitting that is on there stock also contains the emergency release valve in case it over pressurizes. I guarantee smittybilt will sell you that (or even give you one for free).

Also, not sure why you are changing the fitting but if you use a closed end fill chuck, you are going to burn that compressor up. It does not have a tank. I repeat. You are going to burn that compressor up.

    Is this part:
    upload_2023-10-26_9-7-22.png
The handle you have removed from here?
    upload_2023-10-26_9-9-15.png

And you're trying to add a new npt fitting right off the manifold?

Whatever you're trying to do is not conventional at all.. But it does look like there are metric to NPT fittings available.

There is definitely a communications void here. What's needed is a photo of the compressor in question, showing the location of the hole, that is NOT a close-up, so we can see where this is, and what the hole is used for. We're on the 2nd page of the thread, and I don't think anyone is sure what's being asked.

The idea to take the handle off is to get more clearance when I placing under the hood of my truck. I still have all the pieces but I really want to convert to US size.

To be honest all I’m trying to do is to convert metric to US size and I’m having a hard time to do that so I think I might I might gonna go with Healy coil thread repair kit the company told me it’s M 12 x 1.25. I have ordered but the thread is not sitting well it’s kind of play when you screw in

In the future, you should lead with this kind of information. You'll answers a lot faster.

Helicoils are still a bad idea- You're just introducing something else to seal that could leak.

The picture of the thread gauge is a 12x1.0 correct? You need a m12x1.0 to NPT (1/8 or 1/4). Why are you considering m12x1.25?
