A little bit of a different situation, but I converted an old 2x9 SRAM XO Drivetrain to 1x9 by simply swapping the front chainrings to that exact OneUp chainring you linked. I used some problem solvers chainring bolts and adjusted the chain length and that was it. I'm sure my chainline isn't ideal, but I've been running it on my hardtail as a commuter and occasional trail bike with no issues for about 4 years. So I say just keep it simple.

I've had mine over a year now with no issues, I did bleed it once when I let my brother ride my bike and he picked it up by the seat with it dropped.
It still fully extended, but would drop a few mm when I sat on it due to play. Haven't had any other issues.

Yeah, a lot of the "issues" I've read about, are "pre Boost".
Thankfully, mine SHOULD be relatively simple(Boost 148 rear hub).

Guess I'll just order up the chain ring, and go from there.

    To put it simply,
    I have a XT, 2x10.(11-36 rear)
    I have on the shelf a sunrace 10spd 11-42.
    Time to replace components.
Was looking to swap that one, and got with a OneUp 30T Tracion front.
    Going 1x10.
Just wondering if I need a Goat Link, or not.
    Seems to be iffy.

That is the question in a nut shell

I did something similar with a gravel bike, I went from a 3x8 to a 1x10 using the Advent Microshift system. Non boost, HG hub, 104bcd spacing. I bought a cheap narrow-wide chainring from Amazon and had to use spacers on the cranks to get the chain line to work decent throughout the range. I kept the square taper bottom bracket also to keep things even easier. It was inexpensive, I had to mess with chainring spacers a bit but it all works well in the end.

Got the Droood built up. Damn tailored ride wrap really tested my patience so I took my sweet ass time and did it over the week. This thing sure is different, well the frame is... I carried all the components over from my old trail bike. I ditched the super deluxe it came with for a trusty floatX because the mismatch would play havoc on my OCD.

I'll get'r out there this weekend for some laps. Feeling pretty playful on the super scientific street bounce tests.
