Gotta admit that I thought I was hot shit when I replaced my weak ass Nissan hubs with a set of shiny gold colored Warn manuals. Those looked hoss poking out of the wheels.

In practice they were a pain in the ass, but at least it solved thrashing the hubs and the inevitable can-of-nails-through-a-woodchipper sound you got to listen to on the ride home.

Haha! I had a neighbor that struggled with the Nissan ones. He was always frustrated that he couldn't tell if they were unlocked or not. I am certainly glad that we have the ADD versus automatic hubs.

Basically anytime its wet, it snows, on anything other than pavement, etc. Oh and when switching from 2wd to 4wd, 4lo to 4hi, which I do dozens of times a day while wheeling. Most of that switching turns traction control back on so then you get to sit there for another 10 seconds while the truck thinks about what it wants to do.

Good stuff Tony! Tell you what, the ECT makes city driving so crazy enjoyable. A light tap of the GAS pedal and the 3rd Gen powertrain gets going nicely and gaps the vehicle behind. And you know you triggered unknowingly when the 2nd Gen, that was right behind you at the light, blows right by ya.

Yeah. It is a silly thing. Having driven the 2nd Gens and 4Runners, there is no great discrepancy. That said, tuning is needed on the 3rd Gens to get the proper low end torque. But, the 2nd Gens need tuning just as bad, but in other areas.

10-4 on that hometown and why I use the ect button for city driving. It helps significantly for that low end grunt it needs. The best part, if you don’t get wild while on ect, the gas mileage stays on par considering. I absolutely love it. Particularly in smode/3rd gear getting onto a freeway on-pass off a green light.

Trust me, one doesn’t need a lot of pedal while on ect for city driving. If you do, and you have traffic in front of you, you’ll be stepping on the brakes to slow you down. It’s that effective imho.

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
Only thing I can think of is to use a time delay relay. You could have it activate automatically when you start the engine, or at the push of a button. You'd still have to come to a complete stop, then sit there for 3 seconds, but at least you wouldn't have to hold it.
