Today was kind of a regroup day to get ready for the next phase of the bench build. I emptied the dust collector.
Took the last section out of the clamps and flipped it to scrape the bottom to get it ready to run through the planer.
    20231027_190918.jpg
I got it set up and ready to go. All 3 sections will get a light skim cut to make sure they are all the same thickness.
    20231027_192353.jpg
    Filled all the glue bottles.
    20231027_192925.jpg
And cleaned off the out feed table so I can rip all the leg and frame stock.

I'm currently building a table out of live edge Pecan slabs. Drilling holes in it is very pleasant to the nose!

I still have the maple table and chairs. Sold the morris chair and the cabin. Cabin was made in 1955 by a Park Ranger, I was born in 1955 and was a Park Ranger. Had to mill lots of redwood siding after bear tore in. ranch etc early 344.jpg
Sold the cabin to the ex and bought my ranch. Will have shop next year and will start remodeling soon after. And after porches are built. Not a custom home but it works.IMG_0080 (1).jpg
Built the frame solo. Ponderosa from the Gila. Trade out for roofing job.
Had a cabinet shop in the 80's. Will be fun to make furniture again.

If you ever happen across a polar that’s fallen into the water.. it’s got a smell that will never leave you. It’s not atrocious, but it certainly stinks

I used to make cordage from the bark and if you found a green tree down in a lake or creek you could get 20+ foot strands of bark that were strong as steel when braided properly

    I had some good teachers.
My 7th grade woodshop teacher was Sam Maloof's son. I worked for Sam for 2 summers ,pulling weeds and cutting blanks. He was the best.
I was in the Smithsonian and there is a Sam chair. I might have cut the blanks for some of the parts.
My sister is trying to get me interviewed by the Sam Maloof studio. I have no idea where she thinks I have anything to add. His son is the head now.

I took graphic arts in high school, one of my first jobs was making snow at a ski resort, wound up being a on the job training carpenter/woodworker, wouldn’t change a thing.

Awesome, I grew up in Detroit, moved to West Michigan at 19. The furniture, boat building industry is big around here. Providing some really good experience/teaching.
