What options, if any, are there for 2nd Gen Tacoma owners to have an active tire pressure monitoring system display inside the truck?

There are kits that you can buy online. You attach a sensor "cap" to each valve stem, and keep the digital readout in the car. The quality of these are hit and miss. I do it the old fashion way and keep a tire gauge in my center console.

It can also be with a Kenwood Head unit if the truck came with the tire pressure idiot light. My '06 would tell you if it was low but that's it, after installation of the stereo with the OBD connection Tire Pressure and tire temp (inc spare) are now displayed on the stereo's screen when that page is selected, it also ports much of the OBD info to simulated gauges on another of the stereo's screens, it can also read and allow me to clear and annoying DTC in seconds. I don[t ignore those but I have a nagging 420/430 that I haven't resolved yet. That may sound excessive just for TPMS info but it brought up the truck's entertainment system up the current feature set, nav, bluetooth, carplay, backup cam, hands free speakerphone etc... All things that came out in later models. It was well worth the price. After purchasing and installing that system I'm no longer in a hurry to replace the truck even though it's 17YO.

The later firmware ScanGauges can display tire pressure.
Just note on 2nd gens the TPMS does not keep track of tire position, they are displayed by ID (1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 (if the spare has one)) in the order they were initially programmed so you will have to determine which tire has what ID by adjusting air pressures and looking at the data.

I don't feel the need to know the exact pressure in each tire from the cab. Only one of the 3 vehicles on the driveway has that feature and I almost never look at it.

I do, however, like having the warning light come on when pressure falls below a certain point. That is to warn you of a sudden tire deflation while driving after running over debris in the road or some other problem.

There are some options that will allow you to do this, but they wouldn't be worth the cost to me.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
When I installed my Pioneer head unit, I also sprung for the idatalink maestro RR. Could have just gotten the SW model to keep the steering wheel controls, but this one plugs into the OBD port and feeds lots of into right into the head unit. I have one button mapped for TPMS(shows pressure and temp for each tire), batt voltage, and CEL(it reads codes). And another for stuff like MPG, water temp, intake temp, engine load, EGT, etc. More info than I'll ever realistically need, but it's cool to monitor. I think theres a PID for trans temp if you have an auto and do towing but idk, i have a stick. Even does stupid stuff like 1/4mile and 0-60 times and such.

Not the cheapest option outright, but pretty neat if you happen to want to upgrade the craptastic stock head unit anyway.
