I have a Toyota bed mat in the bed and will install a bed extender this weekend. Do I need to move the brackets higher to account for the near 1/2 inch thickness of the bed mat?

Y taco came with a bed extended. I added a mat. No problem. So I guess no need to change bracket location

I seem to remember a thread on here that directly addressed this issue and an allowance had to be made.

I had factory(dealer) installed extender. I added oem mat and don’t see any issues with stock(?) location of the bracket.

I have a bed mat and OEM bed extender. I used the templates for the bracket location.

Having the extender angled up slightly when closed doesn’t really matter. I even have a Lomax tri-fold cover which works perfectly with the extender stowed.

What matters (IMO) is that the bed extender is level and square when in use, which probably requires the brackets to be located using the template.

The procedure/ template are your friend here. I had the OEM bed mat and then installed the OEM bed extender. There was no mention at all in the procedure for moving the template or changing the bracket location to accommodate for a bed mat.

Yes agreed, when extended it sits on the tailgate which doesn’t have a pad. If you move the. Bracket it won’t sit level.
