It's overpriced for what it is, you can barley find the exact truck you want. 4G isn't built like Toyotas of yesterday even the 3G. Build quality and materials are on par with GM twins, and Ford Ranger, the bed is made of plastic. Basicly the same as every new gen of Toyota pick up, that replaces the previous gen.

Turbo 4 is going to be great, if my 86 saab turbo lasted to 250k I think a 24 toyota can beat that.

It's a good start for toyota to actually start something with it. They should of done this a long time ago. It's been too long that doing anything is better then a 4th gen copy of the 3rd gen.

A lot of people mad at Toyota for downsizing to a small-displacement turbo. It's not Toyota's fault. Emissions regulations require it as smaller turbos emit less particulates than larger, naturally-aspirated engines. Some people think it's about MPG. Toyota has a better CAFE score than just about any legacy automaker with their hybrids in almost every model, so they could have built a Tacoma that got 5 mpg but emissions regs are tougher and tougher each year.

As long at Toyota over builds the Turbo 4 I am okay with it. I'm sure people will tune the engine for little bit more power. The Honda 1.5 Turbo is weak and blows head gaskets all the time.

I'm afraid that I may not like it leaving me to look at something else. The turbo adds torque mostly which might be good for towing. The flares look huge to me (not good). Looks to me like there could be too many angles on the sheet metal and why the spoiler on the cab? It is supposed to have a more comfortable seating position and better transmission shifting. Who knows how much over sticker the stealership is going to want.

The spoiler on the cab is a dumb idea especially if one plans to ad a camper shell on the back of the truck. I also see older work trucks people rest long pieces of lumber where the spoiler would be.

I just hope that don't mess it up like chevy did with the silverado's. The 2019's leaked and I still don't think they fixed it yet. It kept me from buying a 6.2 trail boss.

Yes a 4 banger potato, and the next version won't have any cylinders lol just some AA's. Pathetic.
Trucks today are not like yesterday, thanks to cafe, no matter how you spin it.
If it weren't for cafe we would never have succumbed to this level.
Gone are the V8 holleys poking through the hood. Todays vehicles are too complex, too expensive, and too costly to maintain.
Now you have people getting excited about a nicad driving a drill motor.
    Hilarious.

The new 4cyl makes more power than the holley-topped 390 in a dentside ford while also likely being vastly more reliable with less maintenance. The world has changed.

    no.
I'll wait and see how it's doing in 2026-2027, maybe then I'll think about getting one if they're proving reliable, until then i'll stick with what i have

Keep seeing this statement that Toyota is not what it used to be. I met a lot of folks with 2nd and 3rd gens and not one person had any mechanical issues. Plastic bed? I’ve used it 100s of times to haul all sorts of things, still looks great after 5 years. Don’t see the issue.

I’ve got 60k miles and after 5 years I have absolutely zero issues with the truck. At times I tow heavy and off-road quite often, so my truck does not have an easy life.

    Absolutely love my truck!:)

Asking that guy to support their comments with any sort of logic or evidence is a losing battle

When you see on here the dealer wants $9000 for a head replacement and $11,000 for a timing cover leak I wouldn't be so sure that correlates.
Add on a turbo and EV and you will be biting nails when the warranty is up. More add ons greater cost/risk. One repair might cost you big time. Trying to figure where you think V8's of the past were unreliable. With today's machining tolerances they should be bulletproof. It's not the engine that fails usually, it's all the other stuff.
Give me a simple V8 and keep the cafe potato engine loaded with gizmos and electronics.
Good luck you'll need it. Just one repair, just one can be a bigee.
If you want to invest more money into initial cost and repairs on a depreciating asset just because of cafe regulations, be my guest. World sure has changed, and automakers are loving it.

Get real. History repeats itself. That's on 3G and you think it will be cheaper on 4G lol. If you have any repair pricing experience you should know.
