Somewhat new so appreciate the patience as my last truck before my 22 TRD Sport was a 78 Toyota longbed that I absolutely loved & lasted decades.

I want to level the front and I keep reading about these adjustable 5100 Bilsteins a better option than spacers, but having a hard time deciding if I need to alter the rear. I am somewhat restricted with the kind of lift I would like due to my wife's physical illnesses but I still want to level my taco regardless. Currently have 265/70/17s with 9" Black Rhino wheels, 0 offset.

Have any of you just gone with the shocks to level and what is your take on how you felt after? Some pics would be greatly appreciated if that scenario fits your current set up.Taco 2023.jpg Taco 2023_2.jpg Taco 2023_3.jpg

Ton of options in that price range. You want something somewhat adjustable since height is a concern for you but additional suggestions would be dobinson, toytec, eibach, etc. If you just wanted to get rid of the rake are are fine with the hitachi shocks on the sport you could get the kit from westcott for like $300 and keep the suspension as is.

I have no direct experience, but as I am researching the same thing, all indications say you can put 5100's in the front for lift/level and do not need to do anything to the rear. I plan on doing this eventually. Also wanted to add that Lunar Rock with black wheels is the best color combo :) Very nice truck.

Only reason to do something to the rear is if you want to level the truck and often carry heavy loads or tow which would result in squatting.

In putting 5100s up front, I would add the corresponding Bilstein shocks to the rear just so I had the same setup front and back. But leaving the factory leaf springs and ride height alone.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I have 5100's x4 with a lift. Fronts have about 70k on them and no issues. With the lift I now have the extended length 5100's as the standard length tore a boot. My fault for ordering the wrong stuff. I like them on and off road.

That's what I'm looking for, exactly.....5100s all the way around, did you adjust on both front & rear or just the rear? If so, what height did you adjust?

Shop that installed them put the front on 3rd notch I believe and didn’t do anything to the rears . Rear is at factory height.

This is my truck with the 5100’s all around (set to 1.55” lift up front) and the Icon Add-a-Leaf in the rear:

    IMG_8584.jpg IMG_8587.jpg

It’s hard to tell in the pics but when the bed is unloaded, it’s just a tad higher in the rear.

I also have Black Rhino’s; mine are the Stadiums in 16x8. You could definitely level the truck with just the Bilstein 5100’s. I would also suggest getting them all around instead of just the front, just for uniformity.

Thanks for the info & pics....starting to get the feeling of getting 5100s all the way around and makes sense. Thanks again!

No prob, it’s a great solution for the price. I love the Bilsteins and I legitimately use them off road all over the country.

    100% better than spacers.

Bilstein 5100s are even bigger & better than the oem Off Road Bilsteins. If you set the 5100's at 1" in the front, your truck will be perfectly level without raising the rear. If you set it at 2" in the front, you would need to raise it 1" in the rear to be level again.

Thanks, so 1.55" wouldn't level with the rear?
