Question for any of you who did the 3rd gen nylon rack bushings. Do you need to take out the outter metal sleeve in the rack as well?

    * racks out, OE bushings are out, tried to press in the new nylon ones, took a lot of effort with a press, went to press in the new sleeve, and it wouldnt budge much & ended up cracking one of the nylon sleeve.

Photo of sleeve to possibly take out in reference

Never mind, we figured it out shortly after to smash out that last inner sleeve. Instal wasnt bad at all from what most people say it is. Stock width heims tie rods went in pretty well, now off for an alignement this week!

Post back when the truck is back up and running. I've been chasing a weird noise under rough off road (higher speed stuff) use that sounds like a bad bushing/mount somewhere. Sounds like a bushing is bad and I'm getting some deflection/reverberation somewhere. It mostly happens as the steering wheel yaws back and forth so I'm pretty sure it's the rack bushings.

Going to throw a lot of parts at it at once (mostly because OCD) to fix it as I'm tired of ripping it apart. Doing new LCA's with whiteline bushings, new LBJ's, new poly motor mounts, and these JD Fab rack bushings and UCA double shear kit.

Even if the above doesn't fix the noise, I'll be sure nothing is worn out somewhere.

So currently, i've got JD spindle, UCA gussets, LCA pivot kit, JD stock width arms + nylon rack bushings, Kings 2.5extended.

Few months ago i did also notice some weird clunking at low & higher speeds. What i've noticed and fixed overtime:

    - Dirt King UCA bushings had play + Ball Joints were looser/no side to side play just vertical clunking noise.

    - every 8-12months, spherical/heim joints of lower shock mounts gets used up w/play, clunks & squeaks. Needs replacing.

    - full lock turn to left or right, i had a clunking noise consistently inconsistent. Had someone shake the wheels back & forth while grabbing the inner tie rods and could feel play. When i took them out, it was very small but i suppose gets amplified dragging 35s around.

    - rack bushings werent overly done, minor play i'd assume, but figured while im taking the tie rods out, ill get to the rack.

Ya the lower bearings on these shocks suck. I have Fox 2.5's and swapped mine about 10k ago, they quieted down some but some levels of squeaking and creaking remains. I packed mine full of grease before putting in the mis-alignment spacers last time to try to keep the noises to a minimum. Are you still on stock lower OEM shock bolts? I have the ones from 303:

    https://www.303shockservices.com/product-page/toyota-lower-shock-bolt-set

I will probably do new inner and outer tie rods too just "while I'm in there." I think I've replaced both outers over time but honestly can't remember. I'm on 34's, going to 35's next tire change. Mostly just my daily and just road miles, but just did a 5k road trip from the east coast out to Colorado and Moab.

Seems odd, i usually give them a quick lube spray every now and then & pressure rinse after almost every trail time. Yes still on oem bolts. Guess if we're doing technical tire size i'm on skinny talls 315/75/16 so 34.6 ish? Regardless, much bigger than oem by now.

Probably your core support bushings. Extremely common and super hard to track down. Thank me later.

Wish it was that easy. Those were replaced with ES bushings a year ago when I was chasing other noises. Spc UCAs suck.

All my body mount bushings are ES now. Drt fab cmr.

Could also be some weird spring/coilover noise too. But I don’t mind spending the money to throw parts at it. Less things to replace down the road.

If anyone is running a 3rd gen with the SUA and 35s, can you give me a measurement of axle-to-frame height, as well as ground-to-frame height at ride height? I'm rebuilding my bed rack and want to make sure it all fits in my garage door, height-wise.

    Thanks in advance!

Would you happen to know where one could source those?

After calling energy suspension a few months back they haven’t released a 3rd gen kit yet. Supposed to be in the works now and available end of the year or first of 2024

I blew out my JD Fab stock-length upper control arm bushings. What are people using to rebuild them? The ball joints are showing signs of wear as well so I was thinking of doing them at the same time.

    Too many to remember
You can replace the bushings with new ones. If you are pushing a stock length kit to the limits then upgrading to inner Uniball pivots might not be a bad idea

I remember hearing something about the differences between stock PS pumps and aftermarket (Howe for example). What makes stock PS pumps act like you have bump steer? I hate that about the PS pump in my 4runner and am considering swapping in an aftermarket pump to get rid of it.
