Best way to mount speakers to adapters

So basically I’ve developed rattles as the screws attaching my speakers to the adapters have become loose…..is there a better way to secure them as a couple of them keep spinning…..

 

Can you use a small bolt/nut with a drop of blue locktite?

You can use a little sound deadening or a small strip of foam in between and step your screw size up . Just don’t over tighten it.

 

Yea I’m using felt tape….probably will step up a screw size as the screws that came with seems “just enough” but seems to have loosened over time….

 

I used the supplied screws for my adapters and the original screws that mounted the adapters to the doors. And also did sound deadening and fast rings .

 

get some larger diameter screws. but if you're vibrating the doors that much, you probably really need a decent crossover setup with a subwoofer.

I used 4-40 x1-1/4 machine screws/nuts with washers and red locktite and so far (3 months) no issues

 

Pictures of your set up would help. I installed metra adapters and they cracked after a week of driving. Get some heavy duty adapters or make your own from plywood. Then get rid of the loosey goosey green OEM screw anchors and replace with some good fasteners from the hardware store.

 

If you are using the plastic adaptors for the speakers throw them in the trash, then go to a good stereo shop and get some made out of wood. They will sound better and if you know how to use a screw driver you won’t strip out the screws. If you really want them to sound better use sound deadening to seal the adaptors to the doors. The store I used to run we would alway use wood over the plastic crap, we had templates of the adapters so we could usually route a pair out in a couple of minutes.
