Text message suddenly not working-radio

Out of nowhere text messages not showing up on screen tried deleting then installing it again , no luck. I phone 8. Anyone having issues?

 

Truck year and which radio?

If the phone is still connected, then its likely a phone issue.

Also, certain types of texts dont play nice. MMS texts with multiple recipients often fail to show up on mine. So do texts embedded with that weird iphone reaction junk, in addition to video or photos, obviously.

 

2018 sport. Factory. entune. Yes connected

 

That narrows it down to two radios- upgraded non-JBL or the premium JBL.

Try having someone test text you. And if that doesn't work, connect their phone to entune and test text them.



I have an 18 sport, non-JBL, also. I have an Android phone. Sometimes it shows up, but for me, the more complicated the text, the lower the chances. The family chat line has almost no chance of going through. I'm secretly glad that my truck isn't interrupting my Foghat for "dinner with grandma" followed by 15 "lols".

For me it was a setting on my phone. When I updated the IOS version it reset a couple things. My daughter showed which setting in the phone. I still do not know what she did

 

did the pairing in the phone get dropped? did you do a IOS update to the phone?

 

Didn't even think of that.

Changing random settings is a legit fear off mine, only because my phone does it all the time. If I forget to lock my phone before it goes in my pocket, weird things happen. I once pulled my phone out and discovered that I pocket Facebook messaged 30 people with an Amazon link to a novelty bumper sticker. I don't use messenger and I wasn't shopping for bumper stickers. Hell, I didn't think I knew 30 people.

Yesterday my pocket changed my keyboard layout and turned on the flashlight. Took me a while to change the keyboard settings back.

I once pocket replied to a post on Tacoma World with the message "a dnzz shit."

It has forgotten Bluetooth and wifi connections in the past too, but fortunately those were easily restored.

 

Messages show up on the Truck screen?... is that some kind of Entune thing - sure don't want to be driving
down the road and get some sketchy message.

Yes and no. It will show the message if you're stopped. If you're rolling it will still read it out loud but it blanks the screen. Because safety and stuff.

 

Think I found it. In your iphone go to bluetooth, select your vehicle , TOYOTA Tacoma in my case. Touch the little blue notification thingy on the right . On the next menu the top selection is show notifcations. Make sure that is turned on

 

Whoa gonna make sure that ain't turned on LOL ...

 

My notifications were set to OFF, maybe from the phone update. Thank you! Will let u all know if that fixed it when I get a text! Lol

 

I too was wondering why they stopped all a sudden. Sure enough notifications in Bluetooth was off!

 

Doesn’t anybody just drive anymore?

 

Ok, old thread but this issue was driving me nuts lately - here’s what fixed it:
1. Show Notifications in Bluetooth settings.
2. “set up messages” in Entune non-JBL radio.

About four months ago I stopped getting notifications for messages in my truck, it pulls up the list of messages but will not read them off or display them. "This message could not be retrieved" shows across the screen.
Hoped it would be fixed with Android 14 but it didn't help.
Did the normal things like factory reset on the truck, checked permissions. Changed Bluetooth settings around a lot. No Joy.
Called Google, spent a few hours with a guy reading flow charts. He wanted me to disconnect the phone from the truck then see if the messages would show.... Guess his flow chart is broken...
I've searched extensively and can't seem to find anyone else with similar issues. Ideas are welcome.
