I use the ultragage MX 1.4 because I have a liar temp gauge as well. I have it set up to monitor my coolant temp, transmission pan temp, battery voltage and MPG+DTE. It's really handy and you can set alarms on it that will warn you for things like oil change intervals, RPMs, speed, temps. It also reads trouble codes and can clear them too

I have a Scangauge SG2 Ultra and it's been great. A bit expensive but I like that it's always active and doesn't require a phone. They have a new touch screen version but I have never seen one in action.

Okay so as per recommendations, I went with a Bluedriver. It came surprisingly quickly which was cool, but upon using it i’m not sold. First of all - it is giving really strange readings of the live data, when I choose my selected data and it’s actively reading, there are massive spikes in all variables at the same time (things that are unrealistically impossible) very frequently. Has this happened to anyone with one of these? Im thinking the unit is faulty, as the readings all coincide and just don’t make sense (I.e at once, engine rpm, coolant temp, intake air temp, ect. will jump to ridiculously high levels on the graph for a split second. But the truck is just idling or driving normally). I’m also curious if other units allow for more than 5 data selections at one time

I just ran into this, I've got an '06 auto and the obd doesn't report trans temp. The system I have will scan mapped PIDs, I was looking through the available PIDs today and trans temp wasn't there ether.

Is the obd connector on the scan guage a pass-through or piggyback? ie. can something else obd be connected on top of the OBD connector Scan gauge uses? My head unit connects to the OBD but I can't use it's gauges when the unit is in carplay mode, they're locked out.

    I know, first world problem.

It is just a standard OBDII plug.

ScanGuage user here. Very satisfied with it and its ability to see Trans Temp.

Search Amazon for OBDII splitters, plenty to choose from.

I use Torque - have an old ass BT OBD dongle.
Works, does the trick, was pretty cheap.

Haven’t experienced that with Bluedriver. Been using the live data a lot recently to monitor as driving to resolve random issues.
