It’s not about constantly changing things. Even things like seat heaters or climate controls are much faster and safer with physical buttons

Those are physical buttons though. At least from what I could tell.

In all reality we shouldn’t be taping on the screen while driving. All that should be done prior to placing the vehicle in drive. Music selection, answering or making a call is done from the steering wheel controls or voice commands.

I don’t see the larger screen being an issue unless you make it an issue. Same as your phone, eating a burger or anything else we shouldn’t be doing while driving anyway.

They aren’t in my BMW. They went totally overboard in my BMW. There needs to be balance between analog and digital touch. Hopefully Toyota finds the right balance.

That's a different argument (different vehicle), however, I agree. Keep the AC and other controls out of the head unit. I don't want the screen to stop functioning, causing me to lose the ability to control 4wd, AC, heated seats, etc.

Dont care about the size of the screen or it's functions, but for me....it's how stupid it looks just sticking up out of the dash. Zero integration. Absolutely hate it.

Right, but some companies have moved them to touchscreens. Touchscreens have their place, but the overwhelming majority of vehicle controls aren’t it

I agree there, as previously stated. But, I don't think Toyota's approach with the 4GT is wrong.

Note: My opinion is based on the current info we know today about the 4GT.

This is true. However, as manufacturers go towards the Tesla route in terms of simplifying their interiors. Physical buttons will naturally go away. With that said, a robust/accurate voice control is faster and safer than an actual button.

Voice control is great but almost nobody prefers it to using physical controls. Not really in the same safety vein as touchscreen vs physical, but human preferences should have some say

There is nothing better than the round 360 air vents for climate control in Gen3.

Didn’t care for the interior at first, it has grown on me. Use gps often on FS roads so the size is a plus for me, much easier to glance at it and actually see, feel like that is safer.

The new Landcruiser integrates the screen in better. Whole interior is a bit cleaner. But as they say, it is what it is.

I love it. It will be great not having to mount my phone for maps, and the kids will love it for watching TV, movies.

Exactly what buttons has the screen here replaced? This truck has more buttons than any generation of Tacoma yet, something that I gladly welcome in this age.

The point in having the screen high on the dashboard in modern vehicles is that you don't have to move your eyes as far from the road, keeps the road in your line of sight when glancing at the display. It is also optional, you can get the smaller screen.

My take: this is my favorite dashboard of any generation Tacoma.

I hate the big screen. The smaller screen isn’t so bad, as in the new Prerunner I’ve seen on YouTube. But I’d much prefer physical buttons. Overall I think the 4g interior is too busy.

But I do like the new LC interior a lot. The screen doesn’t seem to dominate it.

I do not like it, but automobiles seem to be headed to bigger the better for the infotainment system.
