A.R.E DCU Topper Pricing

Looking to get a 36" Wedge DCU on my 6' bed. Obviously these are hard to find used so I get a quote. $6,000 seems ridiculous. Am I crazy to buy new?

Used DCUs come by every so often, if you lived in the SF Bay area https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/d/port-costa-toyota-tacoma-camper-shell/7673551120.html. Out here average goes from 12-2000. I got quoted 4500 for a color matched fiberglass ARE before I found mine. 6k is wild. Might as well look at a GFC, Alucab or RSI type topper at that cost imho, or say fuck it and add a few grand and find a used GFC camper topper for a bit more.

 

Yeah that price is ridiculous. I bought one about 2 years ago for an F150. Loaded with ARE options my build came to $3500. I did price it at several shops in the PNW and the prices were all over - some as ridiculous as the one you were quoted. Shop around.

 

I'll definitely shop around. In the Seattle area myself. Good to see there's reasonably priced caps.

 

Thought about a legit camper too but rather have the multi purpose of a topper and customizability. And seems I can do that for less than 6k now haha

I paid a bit over $4K for my ARE topper, new with a bunch of customized options. It was expensive but it’s been worth every penny. Best money I’ve spent on the truck.
