Hey y’all, I’m new around here. Never really had any reason to make a post, earlier today I had an idea to make a better air intake spot out of the fog light mount right next to the stock intake. Cost about $30 in pvc and a few random random parts around the garage. Its definitely redneck, but oh well4A114267-D1F3-4629-A2E1-9E6BFE3A06C2.jpg77748771-F872-4144-8FBC-56EB5E46927C.jpg0A798E06-60D3-42BB-898E-AFB9A3085A03.jpgB732DDC7-53E0-47C4-8580-07B98109BA9D.jpg

Not knocking your ingenuity, but Why… the truck already has a cold air intake that’s not going to suck up the water and dirt like yours.

Hmmm that looks more like a water and dirt/debris scoop more than anything.
Especially if there is no screen or something that makes an object or water make a 90degree hard turn.

    I would recommend something different.

My fog lights are always coated with dead bugs. Might want to screen it off.

I like the screen idea, I just had the itch to do something and can’t afford to do anything else lol

Basically, its a cool idea but you need to have a way for it to prevent water and debris from entering.

Most hardcore racers take a full headlight out so I get the mind set. But for a daily driver this will have way more draw backs than gains.

Ideally your fog light ideal should be used to cool the front brakes.

    Reserected from the dead.
It's a ram air intake, not a cold air intake.

I like it, but it's going to cause more problems than what it fixes.

I like the idea and ingenuity till I saw the bag of zip ties in the execution. Preferably CAI or Ram air systems will drop into the intake box. Keep brainstorming end getting your hands dirty.

I don't know if I should be more concerned about debris getting sucked up without some type of filter screen, the amount of zip ties used or the bald tires.

Seems like a cool idea, just needs a little work to become what you need!

Not to ruin anyone's joy, but where's the important bit that actually bypasses the current intake?

It seems like we stopped after step one: punch hole in foglight.

The Cowell intake would be better than punching out a fog light

I thought of that one too. Just as cheap, has a function, isn't a joke...

I would rather put my air intake higher, rather than lower.:fistbump: just not snorkel height.

As others have said, this may possibly cause some minor issues.......or some really major ones.

A friend of a friend tried something similar on his otherwise stock truck.
After a few weeks of use he took it up to the mountains for some light off roading.
The second day we were on the trail, we hit a couple stretches that had some fairly deep water holes formed from some guys the day after the rains plowing through making the ruts much deeper.
The second one in, he decided to floor it though tue first deep section since he didn't know exactly how deep the right side was.

He throttled up, went for it and ended up diving the right side down into the water hole at full throttle and sucked a butload of water right into the low intake.
Let's just say we spent the rest of that day getting him back to camp, and he spent the next couple of months having his engine rebuilt.
Even if you don't hard core wheel, this might be something to reconsider.

Thanks! Glad to be here, definitely not done with it. Drain hole and screening added to the to-do list.
