I guess it's time to get dressed and go outside and try to finish up the dreaded "Valve Cover" Job. The Toyota engineers that designed that plastic brittle cover for the fuel injector wiring harness, should be "Bitch" slapped. Remember the 1960-1980 GMC Valve covers. 4 bolts and your done. None of this fighting wiring to get the valve cover out and then back in.

Yea it does - once you stop doing dumb shit and realize you don't have to learn lessons the hard way, it gets easier . . . . .

Alternatively, once you learn to adjust your expectations appropriately - eg. start expecting everything to get fucked up

Perhaps he tries calling/messaging them back and telling them that he needs to keep driving, doesn't wanna damage it..
Give them a chance to give him a loaner till they sort it out ... and you can say you tried
If they still can't help for a month - then that is on them..

Been a while since there was a leased vehicle around here
Usually you aren't responsible and given the proximate oil change, that they likely fucked up . . .
But sometimes there is a clause about willful neglect
