Tacoma 2.7 Timing Cover Gasket

    Thank you for any Intel you can provide, it seems as if my timing cover gasket has been jeopardized. I just change my oil after 5000mi, only had 4 quarts of oil in the truck, so theres s signifigant leak. What is the best course of action to get this sorted out? My local dealer more than likely wants an arm and a leg to replace the gasket. Truck has 220 K

    There isn't a gasket.
    It's RTV and O-rings.

    It's like any other timing cover job that uses RTV, surface prep is the key.
    You have to get all the old RTV off, and make sure the mating surfaces are super clean.
    It doesn't take a whole lot of "skill", it is just an aggravating job. Tight spaces and time consuming.
