BL is still down. Really hoping they get things sorted out today. It was a hack - someone demanding ransom - so I just want to know how bad it is and if any personal info was leaked.
Just found this in my email. I guess the fact that they can at least access their email functions is good?

I mean we could be! Only to find each other on a truck forum talking about Lego. What are the odds?

    Updated message confirming the hack...:
Update November 6th. 4.02 pm EST
Friday November 3rd, we temporarily closed the BrickLink site due to unusual activity.

Since then, the team has been working super hard to make sure we can reopen as soon as possible – and we’re getting closer to doing that.

Our investigations so far suggest that a very small percentage of our accounts may potentially have been accessed by unauthorized individuals. We’ll be in contact with people directly soon with more details.

Thank you for your patience and support – the kind posts we see from all of you on social media make a real difference to the team here.

We know it’s very frustrating and we’re sorry that BrickLink will unfortunately be closed for a bit longer.

    Many thanks,

    Your BrickLink team

    Updated message from the website:
Update November 7th. 5.55 pm EST
Our investigations so far suggest that a very small number of accounts have or may potentially have been accessed by unauthorized individuals with data obtained outside our platform. We’ll be in contact with these members directly with more details on how to reopen their accounts.

We’re getting ready to reopen BrickLink soon but we’re still not able to provide a specific time.

When we reopen, we’ve locked all accounts – impacted or not - as a precaution that will require all members to reset their passwords to access their accounts.

We strongly advise all our members to practice good data security. Install and run security software and create strong, unique passwords.

Thank you for your continued patience and support – the kind posts we see from all of you on social media continue to make a real difference to the team here.

We know it’s very frustrating, there is light at the end of the tunnel, we thank you for having a bit more patience with us.

    Many thanks,

    Your BrickLink team

Bag 7 complete, 15 to go. Cliffs and foundation are coming together. There’s a waterfall and a sub level library. Cool build, so many little pieces.

The lil’ lady said she wasn’t enjoying all the flats and single pieces, that this one was all me so I’m moving right along. 11 bags down, halfway through the 2660 pieces. Brick puller thingy on top for a size perspective of >1000 pieces.

As cool as the finished Van Gogh looks I kinda hated building it for the same reasons. So many tiny parts - especially the 1/4 circle dots. It drove me crazy

Things on shelves tend to collect dust, at least in my house they do.
How do ya'll clean the models? I've been running them under the sink tap and let them drain overnight and that seems to be working well.

Small soft paint brush to dust. Canned air for the hard to reach places.

Yeah, similar experience with the HP chess set for me. Two colors and repetition. Like, 8 steps to build a pawn…now do the exact same thing 15 more times. That one wasn’t very fun.

This. I also have a set of various sizes of makeup brushes to dust models.

Don't use a toothbrush to dust or clean parts, though. They will scratch the bricks

I found using a makeup brush works very well.
