    Gentlemen,
    Lurker here for a while....
This past summer, after a lengthy internet search, I found a 2017 Taco that had been purchased new by a MD/Professor who is also a BMW (trained in Germany) tech. He stored it in his vault along with his collection of 20 Porsches. (This story is real!). He changed oil every six months, deprerssurized the fuel system each storage cycle and had all the recalls done. I purchased it with fourteen hundred (1400) miles on it. Gentlemen this thing is a unicorn....
    Fast forward to this week.
A local oil company received a Diesel contaminated load of non ethanol. I topped off my tank with 8 gallons of the stuff, drove it non stop for 300 miles, did notice hesitation and no pickup. The next morning at startup I knew I had problems.
Short story, the oil company is taking responsibility. They are paying for all repairs.
I need to know from you guys exactly what - AND ALL - components that will need attention... I want this to be a full restore, not a repair. I am not sticking the oil company, I will be willing and able to pay for the above and beyond items to make this good again.
    Therefor, the nuts and bolts:
Drop tank, flush, blow fuel lines, replace fuel filter, spark plugs, change oil/filter, what will the injectors need? Remember this is a restore, not a repair. What have I missed?
Another caveat, The day before this started, I decided to purchase a new extended Platinum Warranty on her, how will this affect that? Thanks guys, and remember, this is a no problem with cost restore

Full restore go buy a new truck.

Otherwise, drain the tank and go on with life. What do you think the diesel harmed? And how?

And what does your story about the purchase have to do with the issue at hand?

    I cannot afford it.

Thats what I'm here to find out.

I don't understand full restore vs repair. What is the difference? Truck either runs good, or it doesn't.

As far as the issue at hand, gas should dissolve diesel right? Not sure you need to do much other than empty as much of the old contaminated fuel as possible, flush with good gas, fill it up and run it. Only thing I might be a little concerned about is the cats. Depending on how much diesel was mixed in it may have burned dirty, which would have run through the cats. Was it smoking while running on that tank? Once flushed, Id run it hard and hot for a while, but Im just guessing.

    Great question!

"I don't understand full restore vs repair. What is the difference?"

When an aircraft is 'fully restored' it is considered new, if not better. It, the aircraft, better run very good. I apply the same mind set to my truck.
BTY, I can relate to your avatar. Did you serve?

Yes, she did smoke, black soot, cough and die. The cats I was considering removing permanently, no emission gestapo where I'm located.

A full restoration would involve tearing out the entire fuel system and anything related to emissions at all. By the time you've done all that, who knows what other issues you've caused. You have a low mileage vehicle that's 6 years old. It's not that much of a unicorn.

In all likelihood you haven't done any damage as it sits. You need to flush the system with fresh gas and move on. Your truck will be fine.

I had my timing cover repaired as well as my water pump and head gaskets replaced. You're likely looking at about that same amount of work to "fully restore" anything as you're suggesting. In that work, I then ended up with a fuel leak and other noises that drove me insane for about 6 months until the dealership could figure out what the issues were that were caused by the work that was done.

My point is your truck will be fine. Just get the repairs done and don't overthink it.

Agreed. It’s just a 2017 Tacoma. Tons of them out there, just most don’t have low miles like this. Nothing too special about it when they run to 200-300k mikes when taken care of.
