I highly suggest finding a digital copy of the FSM. It's easy to find "1st gen tacoma FSM" should do the trick.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the FSM still can’t find my query. Does it matter which hose goes where? I got one coming from the back of the head and one coming from the return of the heater. Thanks again.

    I have a 98 2.4....

there's a hose that comes off the steel line going to the heater.....heater bypass line...

there's a little T' near the end that steel heater by-pass line..

then a little rubber hose taps off that and goes up to the egr valve.....

then another piece of hose comes out of that egr valve and shoots down to the IAC....

then the hose out of the IAC goes into that 'Y' or T going into the back of the engine...

This circuit is what feeds the egr and then the iac under the carb so each valve knows the engine temp....

so a little hose comes off the hard line coming from the thermostat(heater bypass tube) ....

and that circuit ends up merging into the 'Y' that holds the ect and gets the return from the heater core ......going into the back of the engine...

This is what your ECT sits in....

So my egr valve has a water in and water out.....and a vac line,,,,

IAC has water in/ water out......and a big fat air feed tube from upstream to the throttle body....

dont get those mixed up.....holy crap.....

the water never actually goes into the carb.....it just licks its bottom....

So super careful with that gasket....IAC
