I have a little over 5000 miles and I have the drive start control check engine light. I just installed an amp and the anytime camera. The amp has an add a fuse in the blank usb fuse box inside the interior kick panel. Everything else was pretty much plug and play.

I checked the scanner and it gave me the code P0705 and says replace the park/neutral position switch.

Does anyone know if this is a coincidence? I installed everything Friday and there were no check engine lights. I left for 2 days and turned on my truck and the check engine light came on.

Could I have blown a fuse causing that error? Or once again, is it actually the switch and just coincidence? I checked the fuses and couldn’t see if anything was wrong.

    Looking for any insight/suggestions. Thanks,

Checking fuses would be an easy first in troubleshooting.
Beyond that, I'm no help. I'd start with just disconnect the new stuff.

I checked all fuses. Nothing seemed to be of concern. I disconnected everything, and plugging everything back in. That did nothing. I may replace a few fuses just in case.

Ok, so the issue is stemming from my anytime camera. The dealership said there was a short in the wiring based on their best guess. The wiring was pre wired by trail grid pro. I plugged in my factory harness and the check engine light went away so I believe the dealership to be correct.

The camera worked perfectly. The only weird thing was it would illuminate reverse when I activated it while it was in park. Also, the drive indicator in the instrument display disappears when the anytime camera is in effect. The dealership said that should not happen.

Does anyone know what I should look for with regards to the harness? Or should I just replace the entire harness?

    Thanks

OP, I just finished installing the anytime camera yesterday and I now have the same code and symptoms you describe. When you “plugged in the factory harness”, was that just disconnecting the anytime harness from the back of the head unit? I purchased my kit from Tacoma Lifestyle and made the connections myself, but the results seem to identical to be a coincidence.

Yes, so does the orange reverse light indicator light up when you turn it on? I got a replacement kit from trail grid pro and it works perfectly and now I have no more orange reverse light coming on when I use the switch.

It seems that I had a faulty kit because everything was plugged in the same way and now I am not having the same issues.

I had not noticed this - so I just checked. Yes, the red R lights up when I flip the switch on to either front or back.
I guess I need to get in touch with Tacoma Lifestyle to see if they can get me a replacement. Thanks. Your post has helped immensely!

There is a chance that you could have the wrong wires plugged in but I believe that mine was hooked up the same way. Make sure after you install the new one that you unplug your negative battery cable or your check engine may not go away and you may think you have the same issue.

I just spoke with a rep from Anytime Backup Camera and described the symptoms. He immediately identified that the problem is a faulty diode in the override harness. They are shipping me a new harness free of charge. It was far less muss and fuss being able to make a phone call to someone that knew what I was talking about. Hopefully that will resolve the code.

That is really good to know. Sounds like they have had a couple shipped out like that
