Door closed with no door handle in - 2004 tacoma

Hi, while changing out my drivers door handle I accidentally let the door close. I've tried from the inside to pull on various rods within the exposed inside of door but haven't had luck in opening the door so I can finish the install. Does anyone have a suggestion. Much thanks. Les

 

You need to pull the passenger side apart and study how it works.

I believe the handle pushes a lever down but you need to study the rods movement on the known good side.

 

There is a rod running parallel
...from the outside push it right or left....can't remember..my handles have been off due to painting for a few weeks....I think u push it towards the back of the truck. Make sure door is unlocked

 

Yeah that handle pushes 'down' on a rod....
