Hello E1. My brake lights are not working. I discovered this issue after I hooked up my trailer wiring to a recently installed 7 way receptacle. The receptacle is one of those that has little red LED indicator lights showing each function. I believe it is wired incorrectly because neither brake nor tail lights would light up on the trailer and the 12v indicator on the receptacle is no longer lit up. Granted the brake lights could've been faulty before I hooked up the trailer but no 12v and no tail lights is no right.
Something blew... I found a 7.5 amp fuse under the hood marked 'stop' and replaced it to no avail.

I'll test the brake light switch tomorrow but if that's not the problem is there anything else I should check before I test the harness for continuity? Any relays involved?

And yes the trailer lights and plug are good. I hooked up my wife's car aand trailer lights functioned correctly.
    Thx for reading my post.

I'm surprised you can get the truck out of park. Usually when you lose the brake lights, the transmission locks itself into park.

Did you check the fuse block under the dash? That is where that fuse is located.

My truck is a base model manual transmission. The only fuse I found was the one under the hood. I looked at the fuse diagram under the driver side dash and didn't see any marked 'stop' or 'brake.' Can you direct me to a specific fuse I should check?

Going by memory, I thought it was the second one from the bottom.

Just start pulling and checking for an open filament. The worse part is twisting yourself into the position to access them.

The brake lights are supposed to be a 10A fuse.
You may be checking the wrong fuse, the fuse below it is 7.5A.
