A 2023 TRD Off Road with the Premium Off Road Pkg/Advanced Tech is $47K. My guess is a similarly configured 2024 with I-Force Max will be ~$52.5K. That's a $3k increase for being a new model and $2,500 for the Hybrid (Tundra Hybrid is a $3,300 upcharge).

Hard to do an apple to apple comparison but a Lexus RZ450 BEV compared NX350h optioned out means the BEV "cost" is $8-10K more.

If those numbers applied to the Tacoma and you factor in a $7,500 tax credit, it would mean ~$2K more to get a full EV Tacoma. If it had a 500mi range, I would consider this. For day to day city driving and trips to nearby cities, home charging would be more than sufficient for me. Longer road trips would require some planning today, but would only get better in the future.

It's funny the government offers an incentive for the purchase of an EV.. then somehow excludes EVs from the blanket?

Most of the sub 30k EVs don't qualify for the tax credit. The ones that do seem to be ONLY if you lease.

    What a scheme that is

Do you have any updates? Pricing, and when are they hitting dealer lots?

There's state incentives, rebates. Not just the fed. If you're not buying one then does it matter?

If you really want affordable transportation then get a Corolla or Sentra for $20K. You can buy many years worth of gasoline with the $10K you save on the purchase price. I agree that tax credit for leases only seems like a strange scam for the banks/dealers.

Boy, that franchise really took a nose dive with each successive movie. Still a good watch though.

I have a number of the Saddleback brand leather goods, that make the leather for this particular truck, and can attest that Saddleback leather makes very high quality leather. I would buy this truck, just for the leather. The 7 or so pieces that I have or given as graduation presents are that style and feel of real saddles. If I could afford it, I’d sign up and buy one with this material. But I’m sure it will add at least $5000 to the price.

Thank you for that information. I honestly did not realize how “tricky” some of those ads were.

If Toyota would quit dragging their feet, maybe we wouldn’t get bored and go so off topic. Though it is mildly entertaining, sure beats actually doing work at the jay-o-bee.

It took 30 years to get a rail line 10 miles in my California region. You think there will be a network of EV chargers for the masses in 10-15 years. Lol. And if it doesn’t happen here it’s not happening anywhere.
