Brand new pickup, brought it home a month ago, went to do my first real good wash and wax, and I find this on the tailgate:
    PXL_20231103_234318998.PORTRAIT.ORIGINAL.jpg

It's about the size of a BB, right next to the taillight on the left. No idea how it got there, couldn't be a rock chip in the spot it's in unless it's from a rock some kid threw at the truck. I have a suspicion its from the factory but who knows. Anyway, would appreciate a link or something to how to deal with something like this on my own rather than have someone else do it. Seems like a bit of rust cleanout and a dab of paint would get it 90% there. I don't care if something small is still visible that much, mostly concerned about the rust.
    Thank you.

Looks like someone shot it with a BB gun.

That is exactly what it looks like! Can't imagine when it happened though. Its in my garage most of the time and at work 90% of the rest of the time.

Kinda strange it's on the tailgate... Does look like a BB gun. You would never know if somebody plinked you while driving down the road.

Bummer, but what are you gonna do? Maybe a light sanding then some touchup paint.

Get a touch up pen. It'll have a sanding tip. Sand the rust off and any loose paint, then feather the edge a bit and put the paint on.

This is a rock chip. It’s on the passenger side clamshell door. You can even tell where it scratched the primer.

Is this what you mean? This looks like just the applicator with paint, no sanding tip. But I could be wrong. I guess I could get this and find some small sanding tip type of thing somewhere.
