I got very lucky and got my foot in the door of two dealerships that work with a family friend of mine. They both gave me decent offers with a discount off of the $42,400 price tag right off the bat. I was gonna go with the lower of the two, and called the other dealer to explain that I was going in another direction, with no game in mind. The other dealer rebuttled, and gave me a price that would bring my payment down another $20/month. I then called the first dealer and explained the situation, and he got his supervisor to drop the price another $1250, which got me a total of $43/month off the original payment. This was more than fair to me, and almost exactly the spec I wanted. Best car buying experience I've ever had.

This is a lease btw. My payments are $445 with $5000 down. And a buyout price of $29,700 when the 3 years is done. I did this, because I simply cant justify a $700 payment at this time. I know the total price will be $45,000 after I finance the remaining amount. But that's worth it to me.

 

You got a good price on the truck. Correction though, you'll be 50,720 into it if/when you buy it when the lease is up. The total cost of your lease is 21,020.

My local dealer is notorious for their useless add on BS. However, they're pretty good about just wiping out the cost with fake savings. The window tint, all weather mats, and PPF are about the only real things of value from their mandatory package. I might be able to sell the GPS on eBay for a few hundred. The real savings on this truck was more like 3,258 excluding ADM. Overall not bad and pretty consistent with some of the better recent deals I've seen.

I really wanted a white truck with LED headlights and BSM, but I couldn't find one anywhere remotely close, and a lot of dealers in the 2-400 mile range are still doing the no haggle MSRP + 1-3K add-on package. Took what I could get for the best price.

 

yup, totally forgot to add in my down payment. Thank you for the correction. For me, its still worth it though, to be able to get into one at a low monthly cost up front. I'm driving an '02 tacoma trd access cab right now, and have a kid on the way in the spring. needed something bigger and safer for the car seat. Hard to get into any new used (under 75k miles) suv or truck right now, that id want to drive, for under $500 a month.

 

the trick is finding an honest dealer I visited 5. Price is irrelevant. If they add garbage like nitrogen or special car carpet protectant or any other DEALER crap you run.

of the 5 I went to.

• 2 were trying to do me dirty
• 1 was lazy and couldnt be bothered
• 2 were smart path dealers where the price LEGIT was the price.

the one I bought for gave me $3000 off MSRP. (it was an every day deal)

My toyota experience was INSANE honest at two dealers and I ENJOY fighting with dealers. I even do it for friends when they buy cars. No more. This is my first toyota in 52 years and I am brand loyal from here on out.

Was looking at the cdn option list (canada) for a 2023 tacoma... They list a trickle charger for !$493 , thats crazy
I just use a marine version of a NOCO 5 amp smart charger i have mounted to the fender well for $127 which if you include the cost of my Odyssey extreme AGM battery is still less that just the trickle charger

What?? Base spec with chrome rear? Makes me wonder if I shoulda gotten a brand new MT out of state back in July/Aug? We didn’t have none here in Tx.

I didn’t want to spend $40k on a vehicle either, but all the repairs I’ve done to a 2015 I paid $30k for and 7.29% APR, hurt so bad. Bumper to bumper warranty and not dealing with someone else’s mistakes at aclower apr, make dealing with the 2gr worth it. Too bad for me, but great deal for u.

So, the truck just came in on Friday and I ended up financing it instead of leasing. I put 10k down including taxes. Got the 5.49% financing for 72 months, which was the most affordable option for me. And also the best interest rate they could give other than the 4.99% for 60 months. Insane where interest rates are at for top tier credit scores. Payment is $525 a month, with $31.9k owed.
