    Hi there

No Tacoma, not sure if I'll end up buying one, but it's on a short list of vehicles I'm considering so figured I would sign up. Just doing hopeless amounts of searching for answers to questions for now, and that's returning loads of info, so I'll stick with that. Thank you

Welcome from a fellow North-Easterner! If you get into serious Taco searches, and plan on going used, biggest tip coming from a salt state is to check the frame more than Kringle does his list. I know it may seem obvious, but rust is killer and it can hide. Being in a similar situation as you from not too long ago, I searched for months to find the goldilocks mix of things, and ended up purchasing from the South-West desertland for a rock solid 11 year old frame (not saying you can't find one up here, just it may come at a premium).

100% and thanks for the input. My current daily Mazda from '09 already had the front subframe replaced @ 140k (under warranty, which was kind of amazing), and simply looking at the rear subframe makes me re-up on Tetanus boosters. It's not long for this world I would imagine.

Not a fan of what is done to the roads up here. Best I can do is just stay on top of the car washes in the winter I suppose.

Aside from the general entertainment, TW has some solid advice. There's plenty of threads on liquid undercoating (Lanolin, Oil, etc.) using Fluid Film, NHOU, Woolwax and Krown to name a few. General rec for any truck/suv on the salty roads, Tacoma or not.

Welcome to TW! If you are looking for info/answers concerning Tacomas (and sometimes other trucks/cars) you have certainly arrived at the right place. Most often the answers you are looking for are already here somewhere and all you have to do is search for it.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

@lastcall190 I had better luck looking for vehicles in PA and up state NY than I did in NJ. All the NJ dealers I worked with were pushy and asking way more than what the trucks were worth. I finally found my daily driver in Port Jervis, NY at the used dealer there and have loved my Tacoma ever since.

@EveryDayIsTacoTues having lived there for a hot minute I can’t help but point out that most in NJ consider themselves from the east coast and not the northeast. I don’t know how many times I was corrected on that before it stuck. Those from NJ and NYC were adamant about that and never hesitated to correct someone saying otherwise. It always amazed me how definitive people were with the different regions and unwavering in changing them. Having said all that, I do miss it at times.

I mean those things aren't mutually exclusive but that's kind of funny it was such a sticking point to some.

@hxp05560 thank you for the suggestion I'm absolutely open to out of state and would happily travel elsewhere if the need arose.

@hxp05560 Ain't that the truth I know all too well, can't be confused with those New Englanders! :D Most North Jersey folk will also tell you that Central Jersey doesn't exist either, so there's that. Source: Born and lived in Jersey, Delaware and PA. If you don't get shit it ain't the same; it's our way of showing love.

Thanks all for the welcomes. Had my '23 DCSB TRD OR for a little over a week now, have just about 300 miles on it. Enjoying it very much thus far. Only a tint and have some superbright reverse LEDs ordered but besides that I'm good; maybe the seat jackers however a rolled up beach towel to raise my thighs up and support them has surprisingly done me quite well so far.
