Color, new paint vs clean paint, frame, tires, pkgs, tags, the amount of carbon build up on the exhaust. New vehicles look new. Same as spotting a new identical fleet vehicle vs one that is six months old.

August was the best month so far this year with 22,131 Toyota Tacomas sold.

In my area Rangers do not sell. You see very few since they went into production. I'm already seeing more of those little Mavericks than I do Rangers which had been out several years now. Rangers were being priced like they were F150s. The Maverick seems to be more popular in the city I have noticed as well. Tacoma's don't really have much completion except with themselves and their pricing. I think that is what drives people to other models. Even though I really like the one I have I wont buy another.

So much for all of the hand wringing and twisted knicker posts about the Tacoma sales numbers falling into oblivion.

When will the numbers for September be in? Already the 3rd day of October and it's afternoon on Tuesday.

    Edit

    Here we go

20,579 that's less than 22,131 sales in August of 23. Not surprising as 3g production is winding down.

Configurations, trim choices, and options will all dwindle, August will probably end up having been the best month of what's left.

Best thing ever happened to Toyota was gm and ferd jacking up the prices of their mid size pick up's to Tacoma prices. When everything costs as much as a Tacoma, people buy the Tacoma.

I bought mine because I don’t care for the 2024. I’m sure a lot of people are rushing to pick up what’s left on the lot. Good deals out there for the 2023’s also!

I remember when you could get a pick up truck, that’s right, a pick up truck with four-wheel-drive, for about the same price as an import shitbox.

It was called the truck, or the work truck, or some type of number, not the Thunder Road dick lengtener Stegosaurus Rex pedestrian flattener 2000 limited final black chrome edition.

It sure as shit did not cost $80,000-$100,000 had more leather in it than a Rolls-Royce, and required an 84 month mortgage to purchase by people who most certainly will get a visit from the repo man in the next few weeks.

It took me a while, but I found a Tacoma for less than $30,000 with four-wheel-drive new. It is like the most base of base models, and even with inflation $28,000 is a lot for a pick up truck.

I would like to assume some people are just really sick of paying way too much money for pick up trucks… and bargains are still there to be had with Tacomas. For now.

I can’t wait until Bay Area dealers mark up the new generation of off-road hybrid models by $20,000.
