It's been over 10 years since I sold my 08 TRD Off Road when I was given a company car, and I'm finally considering another Tacoma.

I have my name on a 2023 TRD Pro in Magnetic Gray Metallic that is currently in transit. The dealer listed the car for $500 under MSRP, and I'm taking advantage of some of the current financing offers from Toyota.

I'm a little gunshy with the 2024 right around the corner, and I haven't had a car payment since 2013 so that weighs on me a bit as well.

It would seem there are reasons to wait and reasons to move forward with a 2023. For me, I would want a TRD PRO either way, so I would be waiting a long time for the new model, and I don't like to buy the first or second year of a new model anyway. I'm telling myself that buying the final year of a long standing generation will give me the most trouble free ownership experience and moving forward.

If I'm missing anything glaring that I should consider, I would be interested to hear it.

Glad to be back, and looking forward to being back in a Tacoma.

    My old truck:

I think you answered your own question. Awesome truck and trim level you are considering.

While they iron out any kinks with the 4th gen you can watch from the sidelines. When you are ready you can trade it in with generally great re-sale vale.

Yes, car payments suck. I'm 3 years in on 6 but at 1.9% from TFS. First car payments since 1995. We are comfortable with that and feel lucky to have gotten what we did as the used and new market are still out of sync here in Canada.

I picked up the truck a couple days after I posted. It's sitting next to the wife's 4Runner, and making me think we should trade her limited off for a TRD Pro.....

    Installed:

    bed mat
    Retrax XR
flat black inserts for the pressed logos

    Yet to install:

Thule crossbars over bed (bike/snowboard attachments for winter)
    Rough Country bed extender
Westcott Designs Bed Stiffener (doesn't appear these can be on with the bed extender)

    Not yet received:

    Westcott Designs Sliders, DOM/TIG/0 Degrees/Top Plates/Black
