If I switch from the 40 barrel to the 9, the point of impact is off a little. Nothing like your numbers thou.

How many yards were you shooting at?

I can't remember the exact distance I set for sure, but I know it was in the range of 8.5 to 10 yd.

Another question, do you have any issues running 9mm with the 40 S&W ejector on the frame? When I bought the AW barrel for the G19, I also bought one for a 17L to use as a "conversion" to run 9mm through my G35 (I also have a regular G17 that I could just run the long barrel in, with a bit more protrusion) but I haven't tried that one yet since I got to the range too close to closing, and might have forgot to bring the full-height mags for the G35 frame.

Nice choice. I carry a Glock 19 appendix with a Vortex Venom red dot optic. If you are looking for good concealed carry holsters, I like the Bravo Torsion for comfort: https://www.bravoconcealment.com/products/torsion-iwb-holster

And the TXC X1 Pro for max concealability: https://txcholsters.com/collections/build-your-own-iwb/products/build-your-own-x1-pro

Great info. Thanks. I am looking for holsters and red dot optics for my 19 and will check out your recommendations.

Cool, let me know if you have questions. Here's a shot of my G19 setup in a TXC X1 Pro:

I wont have possession of my G19 for almost 2 weeks and I have no experience with the Vortex Venom optics. Read the reviews and they appear to be an outstanding choice. Question - how does it mount to the gun? Do I need special parts or some kind of mounting parts or platform?

Yes, you will need a machined slide. My Glock is a G19 MOS, which comes with a slot and mounting screws from the factory. If yours is a standard G19 and you want to add an optic, you have 2 options.

Option 1 is to find a shop to mill your existing slide. Because your slide is just a part and is not considered a firearm, it can be removed and shipped to a shop and shipped back, so you don't necessarily need to find a local gunsmith to do that work.

Option 2 is to buy a machined slide from a 3rd party manufacturer. This is a little more pricey, but probably quicker, and you can swap between your red dot and factory slight with sights as often as you want. Here are a few aftermarket slide options: https://www.opticsplanet.com/s/milled-g19-slide

Also, I just realized that I have a Vortex Viper, not a Vortex Venom. Slight difference.

So … I’m new to gun ownership. I’m not ‘planning’ to really get into it, but that’s what I thought when I bought the Tacoma. Now I have a 20 item wish list. But for now I just want to learn how to safely and effectively handle a concealed carry. I inherited a Ruger LC9 9mm from my dad. Is that a decent gun for a novice or should I invest in another first gun? I’ve already found a professional to meet me at the local range to get started. My dad taught me basic gun safety, but I haven’t handled a gun in decades so I’m trying to be smart about it.

Since you inherited the gun from your dad it will always be a special gun to you, take good care of it. Yes it’s a good gun for concealed carry. It is no longer manufactured. While it is a good gun I’d kind of look at it as your starter gun and eventually move up into a Glock or something similar.

Do some research on who you choose to teach you the basics of shooting and handling your weapon.
Go to multiple gun shops or ranges and ask about local shooting instructors. Shooting instructors are
like golf instructors. Plenty of guys out there with no business shooting or teaching you how to shoot.
Just like plenty of sucky golfers become teaching pro's and suck as teaching pro's. There are so many
shooters at ranges that make me nervous. You want to become that guy that knows how to handle his
weapons. The guy on the range people watch for the right reasons. Not the wrong reasons. :infantry:

This for sure. There are some decent programs and videos from Handguns and Defensive Weapons magazine. However they do not beat hands on training with an expert. Do your homework for sure! And find someone you like.

Sig 365L (Macro if you can conceal it)
    Shield Plus
    Glock 26
