Sorry, leaf springs are something I know little about. Can I just take the bolt out or do I need to put some clamps there to hold the spring in place so I can replace with the lengthened bolt?

That's ok, we all have to start somewhere. The side brackets are not under load. They are there to keep the leaf from shifting as they flex. The main bolt in the center in a different story. When you take apart a leaf pack, you have to get some heavy duty c-clamps, one on each side of the center bolt, to keep it together while the center bolt is taken out. Then slowly unscrew the clamps to take them apart. With the side ones, you can take one of them out, and replace just don't use your truck with the bolt out.

Dakar mediums, the "new style" after the change a couple years back, still using the brackets w/ no adjustments no problems.

I'll keep you posted for a trip we usually do in June near Woodstock. But, yes, also VT wheeling. I have done a lot of VT and ME, not too much NH, but almost nothing in NY. So, I wanted to spend more time in NY next year. Woodstock is 3.5 hours for me, lake G is a shade over 3.5 hours. Being down here means it's a TRIP to get anywhere for a weekend, but I'm game for it next year. I know Lake G is "south" of the good parts of NY, but just as a point of reference.

Probably a LOT of broverlanding trips for me next year, not many WHEELING wheeling trips, at least driving. I'll ride along for any shenanigans.

Sounds good. This last weekend I was camping with austin and ally and they were talking about that trip. We got the dynamic duo back together.

Hmm, I'll be in touch later this week
Wife is applying for a job at RPI, we found an apartment that we like for the right price that we're just gonna take and figure things out!
Was gonna say, I'm closer to you in NY than I am in Bev  I have no intentions of bailing on y'all, you got me for good hahaha
I'm closer to Woodstock from NY too actually, shade under 2 hours vs 3 and some. Lake George is right there and I'm right off 87 so it's a nice spot for sure

:O where is that? There's also the spot @Merling sent a couple weeks/months back I want to hit up next year too, maybe a Friday after work get there for the night en-route to NY for Saturday or something. I'm either going to love or hate the tent, I know I'll appreciate the space, but I will have to see about set up/break down if we're on the move every day like that. NMW next year we're looking at hunkering down so that'll definitely be nice though.

+1 on my Tacoma if you need another pulling machine. I don't have a brake controller though.

Crap, maybe she should look for a job at USC or something instead so we can finally get rid of you :cookiemonster:

    upload_2023-11-14_9-8-3.png

This whole shenanigans is what I am thinking. 90 out west is meh, I'd absolutely do a weekend in/at Lake G and the finger lakes too, but that's far more "built up", way less boon-docky. Hoping to have my fridge and I'll have that little portable flat pack fire pit too, so with a hatchet I can go anywhere for a month

Finger lakes are awesome, I'd love a trip out there. But I know nothing of the ADKs so that's all brand new territory for me. Still down though

I believe this is the spot he talked about. Ive been in that area alot so I can show you around. Its right near Granville VT.

Im a big fan of these tents, over 3 years we are probably at around 100-125 nights in the thing with all sorts of conditions. We can go from parked to fully setup with beer in hand in like 10-15 min if we dont have the yaks.
