Hey guys, wondering if anyone have experienced the P2443 code CEL? From what I gathered, Toyota covers this under some sort of TSB for 2012 Taco's, but not 2013.

I'm going to call the local dealers tomorrow to see what they say. But worst case, anyone know a shop who has experience with replacing the necessary parts?

I had that code one time, my truck went into "limp mode" and I was only able to drive like 45 mph. This happened before the recall / TSB and I had to replace it on my dime. Local stealership wanted like 26 or 2800 to fix it, the part alone was over 600 bucks. After researching, I found the part online from another Toyota dealership for 450-ish, and I replaced it myself. It wasn't too bad of a job either. I know just enough about being a mechanic to make myself a problem. Lol

Like 2 years later, I found out about the recall on the part and got ahold of the receipt from buying the part myself and submitted stuff for a refund and Toyota sent me a check.

Okay fortunately my truck is not in limp bizkit mode so I'm just going to clear the CEL for now. Went down the rabbit hole and pulled out a few points from the forums and Hewitt-Tech:

    • the Secondary Air Injection System only affects post-combustion operations, and so a nonfunctioning SAIS doesn’t impact engine performance or fuel economy. Therefore, the sole function of the SIAS is emission reduction.
    • The SAIS typically takes 30 to 90 seconds to get to operating temperature, after which air from the SAIS is no longer needed and the SAIS stops operating.
    • Bypass kit from Hewitt Tech is $450.
    • The bypass kit is just that, bypasses the SAIS error code readings.

Thanks, that's good to know. I think I'll eventually replace the part like you did (or put in the bypass). Yeah I'm not going to give my $$$ to the stealerships. I'm glad Toyota covered you after two years. Now if only they can extend the TSB to cover 2013 lol.
