so...yesterday @ 4:00 am, i was almost finished loading the truck, when i miss-stepped almost twisted my ankle, yet i flailed my left arm thinkin i was gone fall but didnt. i aggravated my surgery destined rotator cuff so badly....soldiered on and drove the hour to my spot, took about 20 minutes to put pants and a jacket on..climbed into my stand. saw a few doe, had a nice one come in, but couldnt lift and swing my x-bow to save my life...no shot. at this point i asked myself, who the fuck is gone to tend to anything i might shoot, as i know that i wouldnt have been able to. so i tucked my tail tween my legs and backed out. reached out to the doctor requesting a shot, just to get me thru hunting season..sure they said, but it would delay surgery for 3 months...

i have some decisions to make

Hate to hear that, that would be a tough decision. I’d get the surgery done as soon as possible before you really fuck it up worse. The sooner you get it fixed the sooner you recover for next year. I put my hand surgeries off for years and put up with a great deal of pain because of it. Now that I’ve had the surgeries and am relatively pain free, I wished I had done it much sooner.

    yes....

    :anonymous:

actually, this is the 1st year, that i have been able to put serious time and effort into hunting, as prior, i only had random saturdays cuz work, and now retired and this. i do know, that once it gets repaired.. i will be good, i had a total detachment of my right cuff 10-11 years ago, and besides the random arthritis flair, she is good to go...

yeah, i made the choice to delay, but it isnt turning into a good decision at this time, just the most normal of arm movement can be brutally painful....been e-mailin back-n-forth with my doctor, we are gone try meloxicam and see if that helps, and im lining up surgery for after the next 3 weeks regardless,,spring time brings feesch time amirtite ??

    So, this happened today....
I had a spike walk by at about 4pm, then nothing. Right at the end of shooting light a coyote opened up about 150 yards behind me. As soon as he stopped howling, 2 others started howling about 80 yards in front of me. I decided I'd try something since my day was done anyhow, so I did the best howl that I could (it was freakin horrible), followed by the best dying rabbit squeal I could manage (it wasnt much better).
Within 15 seconds of making all that noise I heard the two coyotes in front of me coming in fast.....trot trot trot trot trot, so I turn my pin on and slapped my release on my string. Then they stop. I'm searching and searching.....nothing, I cant see shit. I know they're within 20 yards or so, but I cant spot them.
Maybe 20 seconds of silence goes by and I hear the other coyote quickly approaching from behind me (thats the first one that howled). He's coming in over my left shoulder and coming in fast. Well, I actually see this one and he trots by my tree at about 25 yards. As soon as he passes me and I know he cant see me I draw my bow, bleat to stop him (he's at about 30 now)....and miss the bastard. :anonymous:

When I looked at my phone I had 3 minutes of legal time left (for deer). Not sure what the coyote shooting times are, nor do I care. :anonymous:

    What I learned....
Coyotes are always hungry and curious.

I honestly thought my shitty howling noises would scare the crap out of them, apparently they're not particular about dialect that much. :notsure:
I've squeaked in several coyotes with my voice, whether it be a dying rabbit sound or maybe some type of mouse squeak...but if I know a coyote is within earshot, I'm gonna do whatever I can to call them in cause I absolutely love shooting them.

    Anyhow.....
