It's 2023. 4K video cameras, >20 Mpixel cell phones, and <$200 flex-neck inspection cameras with multiple lenses and lights on the end are widely available.

There is no excuse for a technician, dealer, service shop, etc. NOT to show visual evidence of claimed diagnoses wherever possible.

Want gives way to need when you are slow. Holidays become a slow time around the shop because people focus on other things.

My 2022 sr5 had a bad cylinder head. Was leaking oil out of it. 4k miles it had. I Hope a quality tech is going to work on your truck. It’s an engine out job with a lot of wire harness that need to be disconnected and I’m ocd about all the wiring being put back in place without shit being broken or just dangling in the engine bay.

I believe replacing the head calls to pull the motor. Unfortunately (fortunately for you) most dealer techs are well versed in pulling motors as the great timing cover leak of 2018 forced many a dealers to learn how to efficiently pull the engine without much issue. I wouldn't be concerned with a dealer pulling my engine to fix an issue.

Make sure you go around the fenders ,hood and grill with the service advisor...make him note about any dents or scratches

People on this forum get so up in arms about things - the dealer will do the work just fine. They have trained techs, and if the dealer screws it up, its on them 100%. Stop worrying about it - its warranty work, they'll fix it and you'll be on your way. Its literally why warranty exists.

Head removal requires timing cover removal. Timing cover has some interlocking seams with the oil pan, so it's faster (in a shop) and actually less error prone to pull the engine than to work in-situ.

You might have preemptively forestalled a future timing cover leak, so there's that...

interesting. here's an example of Toyota doing what it should. Saw a problem, diagnosed and wants to fix it for free. Like they should. What's the problem?
